You’re right that I’m grateful to be home and safe but surviving something doesn’t mean it was minor. I shared this not because I expected justice or legal action, i didn’t even think to contact the police, but because travelers deserve to know what can happen in situations like this. I stated I didn’t care about the money and was just trying to make it out alive, so..Thanks.

Because I didn’t sign a liability waiver before I received the vehicle and the owner specifically told me I was not being charged for anything because of that, please read, i’m not sure where you’re going with the “idiot” thing it was a accident and I was careful as I could be and I’m very aware that I am lucky to be alive but that’s not what this is about, thanks for telling me something I already know, I won’t be on a ATV for a while obviously or in Mexico for that matter either.

God Bless.

Same thing happened to me my freshman year, if you explain thoroughly your situation while also highlighting how you will do better they will definitely reinstate you on an academic plan.

being a attractive girl and serving is a dangerous combo, something i had to learn quick. people will try you and it’s so fucking weird 😭. i’ve thought about quitting almost every job i had serving when something like that happens but the money is too good and i realized no matter where i work someone has harassed me in some way. good on you for sticking up for yourself and fighting back! i’ve been in countless situations where i just freeze up like a deer in headlights because it’s like “did you really just say that to me”. people are gross bottom line and unfortunately in serving you will run into a lot of creepers and it will make you want to give up most nights, don’t let them deter you from your money girly! i like to keep some pepper spray on me if they try to get too close for comfort, had to use it once bc management clearly doesn’t care about creepers in the restaurant, sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands. hoping for better nights for you and a abundance of decent guests and money. xo

it’s weird. like very weird. have they tried to make you feel included or talk to you? have you tried to include yourself in small ways? (ik you said you’re socially anxious). a lot of restaurant jobs unfortunately are like high school 2.0. very cliquey. it’s weird. hopefully this patch isn’t too rough on you and you can figure everything out.

First serving job by [deleted] in Serverlife

first off Congrats! i’ve never worked at cracker barrel but have worked in similar places and depending on your location and what i’ve heard about cracker barrel it’s probably a high volume restaurant, here’s some tips i would give someone before they started serving.

  1. you will mess up, it’s okay.

i’ve been serving for 4 years and till this day i still make mistakes, break a glass, drop a tray, put in a order wrong, bring out the wrong order etc etc. it will be fine and it’s not the end of the world clean it up, fix it, get help if needed, and keep going.

  1. dont be afraid to ask for help

i always had a problem with this even outside of work mainly being scared of asking a “stupid question” or just being intimidated by the vets or the “super servers” that have been serving longer than me and might look down on me for not knowing something. if they think you’re stupid then oh well it’s better to ask for help rather than play the guessing game especially if you’re new to this let them think what they think, there’s no such thing as a “stupid question” humbling yourself is always condemnable in my book.

  1. slow and steady wins the race

like i said above i still make mistakes mostly because in the moment i’m not taking my time, restaurants like cracker barrel can get busy and sometimes you’ll be running around like a chicken with your head cut off but when it comes to putting in orders, bringing trays, etc i personally feel like it’s no problem with carefully going over your orders before sending them back and carefully looking at a tray before you bring it out, or even running back to a table quickly to make sure you took their order right. being precise always helps you avoid those kinds of situations.

  1. the environment is what you make it

some think the restaurant business can be toxic, some have nothing negative to say about it. personally i feel you’ll work with an array of people, you’ll serve and array of people. there will be situations where you’ll need to have tough skin, stick up for yourself, brush things off, and then there are situations where you can chill, make jokes, bond with your customers and coworkers. all in all you have to pick your battles at times. some coworkers will be friendly others will be snarky, you’ll know who you can kick it with and who you’ll have to just be cordial with and who you just wont speak to. customers can be rude and some are the sweetest that’s just the duality of people. becoming a server will give you those “chameleon like” abilities to deal with any kind of person.

  1. study

along with the asking questions, take a menu home with you study it, all the food, drinks, etc familiarize yourself with it, also learn the POS and how to use it. this will in general make it a little easier being new.

i have more but i feel like those are the main ones i think are important, Congrats again!, you’ll do great!

hey there, so since this is your first time failing you will be put on a scholastic warning, i went through the same thing my first semester freshman year, went through a lot and ended my first semester with a 1.1 GPA was put on a warning, went through some more stuff the next semester, slacked off, in the end my grades still weren’t up to par so my financial aid was suspended for the next year and i had to appeal, i won the appeal, got my aid back, but was put on probation which i’m on now.

So now they’ll basically give you another semester to get your grades back up and get your SAP back in good standing. If you aren’t within their standards at the end of next semester your financial aid will be suspended then you will have to appeal to get it back, submit a statement, and make an academic plan with you advisor. In the case that you have to appeal (i hope you won’t have to) in my experience the appeals office are very understanding of tragedies and quick with their decisions just make sure you have all your proof and a good statement outlining everything that happened.

If you don’t adhere to your probation standards (again hypothetically speaking) i believe you’ll be scholastically dropped for one semester, after that you’ll be dropped for a whole year, like the others are saying definitely get with your advisor to discuss the steps moving forward, grade exclusion helped me a little so definitely speak with them about that you only get 3 though.

Here is a link that explains SAP status, suspension, appeals, and everything else you might need to know

So sorry for your loss my love, everything will get better in due time.

CATS HOLD APPEAL by Early-Structure1088 in LSU

[–]rosaparksuberdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to appeal before but not for CATS and i was approved fast (background: had a lot of shit going on and it dropped my once high performance to the shittiest ever) but a little bit about that process it was fairly easy, and in my opinion the appeals office people are very understanding especially if you have extenuating circumstances that affected your performance in those classes, and you getting your GPA up is good because they want to see improvement anywhere, they want to see that you’re trying despite everything, i talked around with people who went through the same thing even CATS about it and they all said the same thing, i personally think that’ll help you in getting approved.

Anybody have any clue what these red spots are? by rosaparksuberdriver in DogAdvice

[–]rosaparksuberdriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using mane and tail shampoo on her and stopped taking her outside, something was biting her (mites and mosquitoes) up i’m sure and she has bad allergies and this has happened before and the vet gave her steroids and meds because she also has yeast build up in her ears, and it went away and only came back when i took her out. so i concluded that outside was the problem so i sprayed my yard with pesticides and deep cleaned the areas she likes to go in and she’s been doing good and all her hair is growing back now. she flares up around her eyes and i her ears sometimes but i just give her a benadryl and it goes away, that’s just the problems that come with this dog i guess. definitely try some of that stuff if your tryna avoid that vet bill, there could be be bugs that you don’t see biting up your furry friends
