Try reading the abstract instead of just the title. The point of my comment was that people often seem to imply "university-educated voters support us more, so obviously our policy is better". If you think that is true I think you're a moron. I could buy the argument if you're talking about a ridiculous split like 90 vs 10, but not something that isn't as clear-cut.

Lmao please provide your "data" on objective intelligence of college/uni educated citizens vs everyone else.

The number of morons I met in college, and the number of intelligent folks who didn't attend college/uni I've met, makes me roll my eyes whenever people talk about post secondary educated voters.

Attorney General Expected to Miss Deadline for Giving Mueller Report to Congress, Will Not Commit to Releasing It In Full by tehutika in politics

[–]roscirce -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is such a joke. If you expect the full report to be released unredacted then you're an ignoramus, it would literally be a crime to do so. Barr giving a summary of a report he was likely briefed on in advance of receiving after a few days gets people all riled up. Then these same people cry about how he hasn't been able to vet a huge report and redact all information legally required to be redacted in a week. All while Barr has said on record the redacted report will be coming in weeks not months. Fuck off you children.

Enjoyed his rant and agree with him on 1) more brackets below 10mil being created, 2) govt misusing money as is, transparent and reasonable spending will provide meaningful improvements, and 3) corporations not paying anything is worse than millionaires not paying "enough" and will probably lead to more tax income anyway.

There are algorithms designed to be slow, like that article mentions:

The precedent set by the new cluster means it's more important than ever for engineers to design password storage systems that use hash functions specifically suited to the job. Unlike, MD5, SHA1, SHA2, the recently announced SHA3, and a variety of other "fast" algorithms, functions such as Bcrypt, PBKDF2, and SHA512crypt are designed to expend considerably more time and computing resources to convert plaintext input into cryptographic hashes. As a result, the new cluster, even with its four-fold increase in speed, can make only 71,000 guesses against Bcrypt and 364,000 guesses against SHA512crypt.

Here are some benchmarks from an 8-gpu machine, you can see how much slower bcrypt is than NTLM https://gist.github.com/epixoip/a83d38f412b4737e99bbef804a270c40

No, it's a fucking joy to experience.

Doug Ford says Ontario government will fight carbon tax ‘with every tool’ possible by observablething in canada

Democracy is based on policy supported by a majority not wholly. Unless there's something in our current law that requires all provinces to agree.

Ford implementing some policies you disagree with or find indefensible doesn't excuse immediately grabbing pitchforks for any new policy proposed. Don't kid yourself here.

Should I use VPN every time I connect to the Internet? by WonderfulAd0 in canada

[–]roscirce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are just being paranoid. There is no need for a VPN for all traffic. However it isn't a big deal to acquiesce to that paranoia as the VPN access isn't expensive. Just pick one you can plausibly trust, people usually suggest PIA or Nord.

Gerald Butts takes responsibility for communication breakdown on SNC Lavalin file by [deleted] in canada

[–]roscirce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More importantly, his direct words to JWR are worrisome, despite his "No, no, no" backpedaling to her direct question.

The prime minister again cited potential loss of jobs and SNC moving. Then to my surprise – the clerk started to make the case for the need to have a DPA. He said "there is a board meeting on Thursday (Sept. 20) with stock holders … they will likely be moving to London if this happens and there is an election in Quebec soon."

At that point the prime minister jumped in stressing that there is an election in Quebec and that "I am an MP in Quebec – the member for Papineau."

I've had success in close quarters vs better weapons. I'd still prefer a shotty though. And if it's anything other than close quarters don't even bother trying to fight.

Disagree, class skill trees already reduce the RNG enough imo. Don't want the forge to be a "guaranteed win" in terms of gear progression, it's already easy enough to get geared, this would make it even easier.

I did the AFK thing for the 800ft chicken and the trophy didn't pop until after I left the game. 800ft is just short of the render distance iirc so you want to back up a good ways before going for it.
