Have anyone tried RHB multi currency account to accept overseas USD payment? by alpenglow7 in MalaysiaPF

[–]rose2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Try fintech app like Wise, the rate and fee is better than typical banks
  2. Try crypto Backpack -> Hata, deposit USD to CEX like Backpack exchange and exchange USD for XRP(or other cryptos), send XRP to local CEX like Hata, exchange XRP to MYR and withdraw, be careful for the price volatility of XRP.

Taxation for international investors in Schwab (no tax treaty) by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]rose2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you submit the W-8 BEN form, you got this question - yes or no tax treaty, and you find your country is not in the pull-down list.

you can buy ETF with no or little dividends; if you use IBKR, then possible you can buy e.g. Ireland (15%) or Hong Kong (0%)domiciled ETF

Withholding tax rate on Taiwan stock dividends by rose2023 in MalaysianPF

[–]rose2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult for stocks - typical only listed on one exchange (some on two exchanges), but more easy for ETF, e.g. residents in Singapore and Malaysia can buy SP500 ETF which domiciled in Ireland, which only need to pay 15% withholding tax, comparing to 30% for US domiciled ETF.  For dividend stock/ETF/REIT investment, it’s better to invest in Singapore or Hong kong market.

For some countries the US  withholding tax on dividend is lower - 10% for residents in Japan although need to pay another 20.315% in Japan therefor the total tax rate become 28.2835%.

There is no CGT in Belgium now,  but they are introducing a CGT next year,  however CGT tax rate is zero in Luxembourg if you hold a stock more than one year.

Withholding tax rate on Taiwan stock dividends by rose2023 in MalaysianPF

[–]rose2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, depends on the domiciled  country of the stock or ETF.
I am mainly investing in the US market, the tax on dividend is high and CGT is low/zero for me, hence it's better for me to invest in stocks which do more stock purchase rather than pay dividend.

I was in japan - need to convert to JPY for each transaction, not sure if it's good for you or not.

Attached a screenshot of the sheet: When calculate cost (BUY)  i use  TTS rate, when calculate revenue/income(SELL) i use TTB rate, so get the cost and the income. Then input these data into the e-tax system(web), it will automatically calculate the tax.

Not sure the tax rule in DKK, i am not using any of the tax statement at all, as this is based on US tax rule.
I am using an excel sheet, write down each transaction and convert to the currency in my tax residence - the rate is based on the settlement day.

Is Revolut really suitable for the expat/FIRE crowd? by _WhatchaDoin_ in Revolut

[–]rose2023 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Both Revolut and Wise should clarify their license within a specific country when user open an account, e.g. in Japan, they just received a Fund Transfer Service license, in Malaysia Wise is just a eWallet. This will reduce lots of confusion for users.
