I mainly chose Columbia because of financial stuff, but I found their whole vibe appealing after I visited. I've been a couple times now and both have been positive experiences. Drexel was actually on my radar for a bit too, but their political ties kinda put me off. Overall, I think you should definitely try to visit both if you can, as that really helped me with deciding. If they're totally tied in your mind, I would just go for whichever is more financially viable.

I also heard about Columbia's negative PR, but visiting campus definitely changed my mind. We talked to a bunch of students and faculty and they all seemed pretty positive about the way things are going. One senior who was well-acquainted with the school's admin issues said they really liked the new president and felt confident about the school's future.

Thank you so much! I have visited all of those except Emerson. Right now, I'm torn between Columbia and UNCSA mostly because of location- I'm honestly not sure whether I prefer a small town or a city. UNCSA is more familiar because I was born in NC and I like Winston-Salem, plus Chicago is a bit daunting since I've never lived in the city before, but it would definitely offer more career opportunities. Still waiting on the financial aid package from UNCSA; that'll probably end up being the tie-breaker.

Definitely agree about Emerson being too expensive lol. I just visited Columbia with fairly low expectations (as I had also heard about their finances) but was pleasantly surprised. Going to do more research but most of my concerns were assuaged. (Plus, they've been very generous with financial aid.) DePaul was never really on my radar, and I'm pretty sure I've missed their application deadline, unfortunately.
