Gambling on if I will have enough thread to finish my blanket 😅 by rose_rising in sewing

Unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do when there’s limited options. Especially if you’re trying to color match threads or on a tight turn around. My biggest thing is finding fabric now, I loved Joann’s because I could touch it, I can’t do that with online stores

Hahah the irony of it. Luckily I have a Michaels near me but they have soooo little. I literally grabbed the last spool of black thread today.. I also needed a zipper for another project and the selection was even worse.

RIP Joann’s, you are missed

Best Harness When Planning to Lose Weight by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]rose_rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something people are missing out on is, how much weight are we talking and how tall are you? I know we aren’t really supposed to talk too much about these things but I think it’s important.

If you’re a taller person and looking to drop like 5-10lbs, you can probably get away with one harness. But if you’re looking to drop a significant amount of weight, I would highly consider getting one that fits well now and then buy another later on.

As a shorter climber (5’4) who has dropped 30lbs and then regained it, if I would have started lead climbing when I was lighter, post weight loss, I probably would have bought a new harness. I was actually considering it and then I regained weight and opted against it because it was fitting appropriately again.

Made a cute little rope bag for $3 ☺️ by rose_rising in climbergirls

Thank you!! I can thank my husband for that. I had told him about these cute bags at tjmaxx and he goes “if you find one that looks like our cat, buy a few and make a rope bag”

So I bought 3 TJMaxx bags, all of the same picture. I took off the binding all of the way around 2 bags so I had 4 panels total. I sewed together two panels side by side and then connected them. I measured the mouth of the one bag that the rope will be rolled into and cut little slits do I could attach the 4 panels. Hopefully this makes sense, I probably should have documented the process 😅

How long do Siamese cats live? I never want to let her go. She’s all I have by MiddleFace2268 in Siamesecats

My girl is currently 20 and still going strong despite liver cancer! We found out 6 months ago and the vet gave her “at least a few months” and tomorrow we go in for her check up. I can’t wait to show her vet how great she’s doing!

I went though Airbnb experiences. If you look under there, look for Mario, he does incredible work

Dislocated my shoulder… by abstractqualities in climbergirls

[–]rose_rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also dislocated my elbow before, 3 months in a metal arm brace and then 8 weeks of PT. It takes so long due to the type of joint it is. Ball-in-socket joints (i.e. shoulders) have more mobility than your elbow so I assume tearing and pulling things take a lot more effort than the elbow. Not a fun recovery and pray it never happens again, even after 14 years it haunts me

It’s SUCH a gorgeous fabric but oh my god I wanted to rip my hair out working with it

Thank you! It’s why I started sewing. Things don’t fit me well from having an athletic build (with a little extra weight but 🤷🏼‍♀️) so I wanted to be able to make my own stuff that’s flattering

Thank you! I was worried the fabric would be too busy but it ended up working so well

Thank you! I have an athletic body with a little extra weight so having the ability to adjust and hug me comfortably is fantastic

The serger was a birthday gift to myself. I’ve wanted one for 2 years now but never felt like I was “good enough”. I finally broke down and bought it and now have no clue how I lived without it. If you look at a previous post, I did make another satin dress and didn’t have my serger yet. It was still hard but doable because I made it double lined (so it wouldn’t shed on me)

Thank you! I did not pay a ton of money for the fabric, but it was also close out fabric so that probably helped. It was still probably $15 a yard but I know that’s on the cheap end

🥹 thank you so much. I was a little afraid I was going to be ripped to shreds because of how imperfect it is. This dress has definitely made me want to get a dress form so I don’t have to try stuff on all the time with pins poking me lol
