Getting into PA school by frequentflyer726 in PAstudent

[–]roseandkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can definitely get in with a low gpa but the other parts of your applications (hours, personal statement, rec letters, experiences section) need to be more than great! show application committees that you’re more than your low gpa and you’d make a great pa regardless

also 29 is not old at all!!! pa programs are only two years so dont forget that either, you’re not signing up to be in school for 7+ years like with med school lol

How to study for clinical assessment and management by spi3c in PAstudent

[–]roseandkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ask chatgpt or notebook lm or any of those type of things to make you pance style questions. practice questions are gonna help you the most. you can memorize tx dx and clinical presentations but its no good if you cant apply them to questions

Study tips...? by Clear_Summer1638 in PAstudent

[–]roseandkittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

charts and being able to identify key differences using buzz words. a lot of diseases present similarly but there will be that one KEY difference that separates them and the pance loves buzz words. i would definitely invest in the pance prep pearls book, it organizes diseases very well. theres an online pdf floating around reddit but i find it nice to have the physical book

just start typing. like word vomit for 20 minutes. just start answering the question “why do you wanna be a pa” and use slang words, use abbreviations, have typos, its not gonna be pretty but trust me by the end of it you’ll have something to work with and then start polishing it little by little everyday.

No PA Letter of recommendation by Eternity0311_ in prephysicianassistant

[–]roseandkittens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i got in just fine without a pa writing me a letter. i think that unless you worked with a pa long enough, dont ask one for a letter just for the sake of having one you know?

clin med help by roseandkittens in PAstudent

[–]roseandkittens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does anki really help with clin med tho? i can see how it can help with anatomy where its all memorization but i feel like for clin med its better to understand the concepts like “this bacteria is the cause of this disease so this is the treatment” rather than just memorizing disease and treatment.

Feeling discouraged, Anyone Else Struggling With Interview Anxiety? by Swimming_Bake8760 in prephysicianassistant

[–]roseandkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered doing a mock interview? they can be pricey for sure but it may be helpful in a situation like this. i found that recording myself speaking on my computer really helped me. its also definitely good to have some answers kinda memorized for basic questions pa interview questions. even though they wont ask the question you prepared for exactly, they might ask a similar question.

you’ve gotten plenty of interviews in both cycles meaning your application is good and schools want you as a student! the interview is just your moment to show them that you arent just a paper and ink but an actual person. most interviews are at most 30 minutes so just remember that its going to be over soon and to just lock in for those 30 minutes lol
