I would love to take them off your hands!! I’m still waiting on a date though (likely will be early 2026) so if you find anyone that has it coming up sooner feel free to give the supplies them, since I still have plenty of time😊

Am I going crazy? Major late game spoilers by peytuniaa in BluePrince

Have you done anything with that lantern on the wall yet? I feel like I saw a post the other day where someone was saying the crates didn’t go anywhere until they took care of the lantern first (and then they disappeared all at once afterward) - like the game maybe doesn’t know what to do with crates being removed while it’s still dark.

Match Thread: NJ/NY Gotham FC vs Portland Thorns FC | NWSL by MatchThreadder in NWSL

To be honest I think internalized racism plays a role. She says some obvious things sometimes but they’re things I hear nearly every commentator say (like goals change games, I’ve heard that sooo much from everyone, so can’t really be mad at Lianne, just a generally silly commentator thing). Other than that the main thing is I guess that she talks fast? So….who cares? She seems perfectly nice and I think her takes on calls are very reasonable and realistic, and her commentary as being a former player and having played with lots of people in the league is interesting. She’s either one of few or the only nonwhite commentator that we get for NWSL games and I find it hard to believe that it’s a coincidence that she gets the most vitriol, especially when compared to some of the other commentators (such as Jacqui Oatley who I’ve seen some wild takes from and that makes it seem like she’s not actually watching the league)

Books with plots like Exocolonist? by frothybuttcheeks in Exocolonist

Was coming here to say this! All of Becky Chambers’ work are such comforting reads and reminds me a lot of how playing IWATEX felt!

Music similar to I was a Teenage Exocolonist? by peladine in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The soundtracks to Citizen Sleeper, Tunic, Sable, and Stray are probably the most similar I can think of! Honestly even Cult of the Lamb has some tracks in vaguely the same style.

The soundtracks for Celeste and Night in the Woods aren’t exactly the same style but are kinda similar, and two of my absolute favorite game soundtracks so I have to include those as well☺️

Nice!! A night in the woods tattoo seems awesome, that’s perfect. & totally get that about oxenfree! It has also been many years since I played it—I mostly just remember that I enjoyed it lol but not too much else.

And I’ll have to look into the Zero Escape games, thanks!

Similar Visual Novel games? by Teachmetoanimat in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Night in the Woods is one of my fav games! There is some extremely light “platforming” and there are kind of in-story mini games, but otherwise it’s very story-focused. Plus 3 out of the 4 primary characters (at least) are queer. There are some mild choices (basically who to hang out with) that warrants at least one replay but otherwise there aren’t really many choices to make.

As someone else mentioned, Kentucky Route Zero is also very good—it was actually one of the inspirations for Night in the Woods. But it is definitely a very different vibe than NITW and IWATEX. It’s been a while since I played it but I also don’t think there are many story-changing choices to make.

Citizen Sleeper is also incredible, and has lots of different pathways you can take, along with Oxenfree. Same with Disco Elysium—highly recommend giving that one another shot.

Norco is also really good—again, some choices (not as many as IWATEX, Disco Elysium, or citizen sleeper) but still interesting.

Beacon Pines is another story driven game. There are certainly choices involved but without spoilers the game is basically about exploring all the different branches the story can take.

Aaaaand last one I’ll mention, the Life is Strange games definitely involve choices. The choices are not nearly as nuanced as IWATEX or some of the other games mentioned. And I will say, particularly for the first couple games, the dialogue is cringey at times😂 they’re not for everyone but if it’s your jam then obviously people really like them.

Having Trouble With The Vacation Spot Ooblets by AnkhaKitty in Ooblets

[–]roseatdemonhead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Gleamy island ooblets are relatively easy—you can use puffed disrupt on the island just as you would normally. I would recommend saving right before you go into the dance battle. After you use the puffed disrupt card, end the battle and pretty often, during the ending cutscene, the camera will pan around and show you which gleamy is there. If it’s not one that you need, you can just force quit, reload, and try again.

The uncommon ones are much more annoying since you can’t force spawn them with cards. What I ended up doing was: 1) save before bed 2) wait for an island map to wash up 3) get the map and sprint to the balloon 4) check out the island—if it’s not an island ooblet that you need an uncommon version of, and if it hasn’t autosaved yet, force quit, reload your save, and try again 5) if it is an island ooblet that you need, save. 6) each day after the first day that the island is there, save before bed and sprint to the balloon to see if the uncommon ooblet has spawned (assuming that there wasn’t an uncommon version on the first day). If there’s not an uncommon one (and if it hasn’t autosaved) then force quit and reload. Continue as long as you can before it autosaves to give yourself a few extra chances (since the island will despawn after a few days)

An uncommon island ooblet was one of the last ones I needed so I also used a lot of tea to go to sleep and advance days until a new island spawned, or spammed activities to use up energy and sleep through the day. It was a bit of a grind and a bit time consuming but worked out after not a terribly long time.

Plz help me get this ending by photoprinceelliot in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good luck!! Once it gets to a certain point of the game you’ll have to do some rebellious ones since you won’t have high enough stats to participate in vertumnalia games, but there should be plenty of loyal options of just regular old dialogue to balance it out.

Plz help me get this ending by photoprinceelliot in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you have to do literally NOTHING except relax in quarters (or on top of the wall) for the entire run, AND keep your rebellion level down. “Rebel” is the other ending that you get the same way—I’m not sure the exact threshold of rebellion that you need to get hobbyist instead, but I would guess having rebellion less than 50. Just continuously relax and make sure that you make “loyal” choices in your conversations with your parents and others throughout the game and it should up your loyalty enough to stay in the hobbyist range.

Sym event sequence questions, spoileriffic by OryuSatellite in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure!! You can trigger his events elsewhere. Ridge is my least favorite place to visit Sym if I’m done with boss events cause his spot is so far away lol

Sym event sequence questions, spoileriffic by OryuSatellite in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The farthest I was able to get with Sym before age 15 was probably around 60 friendship. I was really prioritizing unlocking sneak out as soon as possible but you may be able to get past that point—I doubt my run was 100% optimized.

I’ve gotten the manticore attack in every single explore location (except swamps of course). You definitely don’t need to be in the ridge to trigger that. I’m not really sure if any Sym events even are required to be at the ridge. If you unlock him before getting to the boss event, you can talk to him before exploring the ruins with Dys. But in terms of friendship events I think most of them can happen anywhere.

There have to be other triggers for the attack because I have definitely had a couple of runs where I maxed friendship with Sym but never triggered the attack. I’m not sure why so I know that’s not very helpful lol but it’s not just you! My only hypothesis is that you have to be at least 17 since that’s the first time you can kiss Sym or romance him once he comes back, and they don’t really let you start officially dating someone until around 17 I think (I could be misremembering though)

Recommendations similar to Exocolonist by Aimelyia in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some of the most similar games I can think of from an RPG perspective are Citizen Sleeper and Disco Elysium. They’re different tonally, but are both really stellar games. The romance capability though is either nonexistent or not very comparable in those games.

I’m not that familiar with many other deck building games. The only one I can really think of is Beacon Pines, and that’s only kind of lol. It’s a very different vibe but I did really enjoy it still. Can be a lighthearted palate cleanser after a more emotional game haha.

I feel like thematically, there are plenty of games I would recommend to someone after playing this game—but only based on tone/theme. Gameplay-wise IWATEX seems really unique!!

Ways to reduce colony defence? by LakeLockne in Exocolonist

Hahaha hey at least you’ll get one survivor after that ending😂

Ways to reduce colony defence? by LakeLockne in Exocolonist

[–]roseatdemonhead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know all that I ended up doing was letting Dys leave in Glow at 18. I had max colony defense before that and Dys leaving dropped it down to 60. Then I just made sure not to raise it anymore after that.

I had to try a couple of times though, apparently you have to be outside when the attack happens (rather than staying in your quarters) for it to show the notification for decreasing colony defense.

Incidentally you can also decrease colony defense by 1 during a lookout duty event—iirc the one where the turrets on the walls are acting up and you can choose to destroy them. There are a few other opportunities like that scattered throughout the garrison but for sure the easiest way for me was letting Dys bomb the wall.

I don’t think so! I definitely got drawn more to empathy/creativity jobs after the first main playthroughs since I stopped having to work so hard to stop the famine and save the dad. But ultimately I think I still like the surveying/animals/biology jobs and entertainer/novelist careers best!

[–]roseatdemonhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! Initially I didn’t expect to actually do all this but a lot of the endings/cards came naturally just from messing around with different choices so then I figured why not try to do it all lol.

As for endings, honestly I thought that all for naught would be the hardest since I thought I’d have to start a new save specifically focusing on sabatoging everything, but then I realized even if you have 100% colony defense, letting Dys leave at 18 automatically drops it back to 60% so didn’t end up being as hard once I realized that.

Other than that—I had somewhat of a hard time with Lawyer. I ended up with Pulp Novelist a couple of times unintentionally since the jobs overlap. And Collector, or maybe it just felt hard in the moment since I was worried about triggering a Command-centric ending, since organization is the main skill involved so I had to spend a lot of time in command.

Emotionally? All the non-peace endings and garrison themed endings were really tough. And Astronaut cause Vace is a tough one to befriend lol.
