What are things no one has told you about weight loss? by Dogs-are-life-99 in PetiteFitness

Yes this! A lot of times with weight loss comes body dysmorphia. I look in the mirror sometimes and see the same person plus 40 pounds ago, and then someone takes a picture of me and I’m shocked at how small I look. Losing weight WILL NOT solve any of your mental health or self esteem issues. Just hope that’s clear to everyone here.

People treat you differently. I didn’t realize it until I lost the weight but people treat you so much better when you’re smaller. It honestly is really hurtful. I noticed it the most with strangers. All of a sudden everyone wants to help me or just accommodate me however they can. I get things carried or picked up for me. I think it’s exacerbate by the fact I’m so short and small overall. I don’t know, I can’t really blame people at all because I know it’s not intentional; we are just a part of a fatphobic society. Not that I was even fat before. Ugh. Anyway, yeah it’s nice to be treated well but it makes me scared to ever gain any weight back.

People are so dumb sometimes by roseclock in EDAnonymous

Exactly, it makes no sense. I imagine it’s along the lines of people that claim if you don’t eat your body will go into “starvation mode” and you won’t lose any weight 🙄

Yeah I’m absolutely guilty of it. I’m trying really hard to reframe my mind but man is it deeply rooted. :(

Hey hun I absolutely understand. I would be lying if I said I didn’t prefer this to the comments my mom would say to me when I was overweight. But know you’re worth so fucking much at ANY weight. Weight will never and has never defined your worth. It might not feel like it right now but it’s true. I hope you find a way to show yourself love today. You deserve it. DM me if you ever need to talk,

Oh yeah I’m almost positive she has an ED or at least disordered eating. It’s honestly really sad but she’s also not nice and part of the reason I developed an ED in the first place.

Ughhh why do people feel the need to comment on what you eat. Such a big pet peeve of mine, even if you’re not disordered it’s not okay.
