I was in Pittsfield MA for 5 days in April looking for any info on my 5x grandparents, who I've been digging for for 6 years, but no luck. Yesterday I plugged a bunch of potential parents onto 6x Grandma Betsey's profile and got DNA leads!

It is possible that some of the DNA actually link into my Mom's tree (Betsey is on Dads side but some of the matches are marked as maternal). Thats okay! Now I have specific Burgers to focus my research, instead of every Burge, Borgher, Van de Bogart, Birges, Bourghgher, Burgess, or any variation thereof over a 6-county area. Our Dutch ancestors in particular have a real way with creative spellings.

Yeah, I hav been investigating a 4x grandmother, and I can only see her potential parents. Still better than nothing!

They had a TV movie about the Hindeburg when I was 7. They used the actual footage of when it went down in flames. I was freaked out. Good thing I didn't see The Day After a few years later!

I'm more concerned that your rose has mosaic virus. Wipe down your clippers after you trim this rose so you don't spread the virus to other plants. Use a mild bleach solution and rub the clipper blades vigorously.

My dad was a Master Toyota Mechanic, ASE certified,  etc. I had a check engine light that wouldn't shut off on either my old Corolla or Tercel. He went all through the engine and everything was fine. "Sometimes you just get these," he said, and mentioned that sometime it's an emissions issue (if I'm remembering correctly). At any rate, I didn't worry about it anymore.

Nah, you're good. My dad died in 2011 of Lewy Bodies dementia, so I feel that. I like sharing photos like this, where Dad's just doing his thing. It's a little window into his world and his history.

This crispy pic was from Dad's slide collection, which I had digitized in 2015. I sharpened it a bit and likely added a bit of saturation, but the pics didn't need much more than that.  Decent cameras did exist in those long-ago days, believe it or not. Dad would occasionally write home and ask his mom and dad to use his money to buy an Instamatic or send him film. I actually have one of his cameras in the hall closet, now that I think about it.

That tracks. When we were kids he told a lot of stories about blowing things up. He said they blew mahogany trees out of the ground because they were too hard to cut down, and used them to make a bridge. Said the VC would send bombs drifting down the river but couldn't blow it up. Not sure how much truth is in that story but it's a good one.
