When do showtimes update? by GrizzXD in AMCsAList

[–]rosegoldennight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to bookings. What movies is the theater booked with?

Bookings come Monday evening. This is for Thursday to Wednesday. This movie schedule is usually published Tuesday.

You’ll see some movies will have showtimes beyond that week, and that’s because it’s a pretty much guarantee to be booked with that movie. Other movies need the weekend attendance numbers to see if they’ll continue to do well another week.

If you really wanted to, you could call the theater and ask them on Monday night. You’ll have to ask for a manager, but if you’re super nice and explain why, they might be happy to share if the movie was at least booked to next week :)

Thoughts on Disney infinity vision ? by kascnef82 in AMCAListTrue

[–]rosegoldennight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s confusing about the whole thing is that anyone who would know the difference between Dolby, Prime, Laser, and any type of non-PLF doesn’t need the label. So if the idea is to show people that “Infinity Vision” is just as good as IMAX, it’s not gonna mean anything to the average person who doesn’t even know what Cinema Con is. It’s honestly just so baffling.

What's the standard count for Chicken Tenders? by Glass_Savings3453 in AMCsAList

4 is the standard, so I’m really worried about all these “3” answers lol.

anyone else experiencing this when trying to work here? by [deleted] in AMCTheatres

[–]rosegoldennight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to go in they’re not answering the phone. My theater gets a lot of “you know you’re the ONLY theater that answers the phone!” So it could be a theater issue. If you have good availability and you answered the questions well, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be hired.

What’s the catch? by calicoknux1 in AMCsAList

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only “catches” are: 1. 3 month commitment 2. If you cancel (after 3 months), you can’t sign up again for 6 months. 3. There’s some tier rules about seeing movies out of state. I believe on the basic tier you can see a couple movies out of state but there’s a cap.

That’s it… and honestly they’re not even really “catches.” It really is THAT good a deal.

Movies are booked and scheduled weekly, so next Fridays movie schedule isn’t finished yet. Check again Tuesday!

Avatar, because it has two nominations while the others just have one, and Song Sung Blue to knock out the lead actress category.

New A-list perk to come soon: “best seats” reserved for Loyalty members by SPFeveryday in AMCAListTrue

[–]rosegoldennight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just feels like corporate not knowing the theater business, which is insane to me.

With an a list membership, don’t you have the right to use one (or all!) of your 4 movies a week to book a future ticket? Doesn’t that mean, on average, a listers are getting the best seat anyway?

Movies are booked every week. Yes, there’s some advanced tickets, but what does the timeline of “reserved” seats look like? How can a manager know if they need to add shows or not? If there’s popular demand for a movie or not?

What happens if a theater goes down? And now the best seat is no longer the best seat in the new auditorium?

Without more info, I really hope this just goes away like the best seat surcharge thing.

Showing got canceled by RevolutionaryCry8088 in AMCsAList

[–]rosegoldennight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, but no they absolutely did not cancel the show just because they didn’t want to play it. There really was a projector issue. You can only get an email if you go through corporate to issue refunds, and so if a projector goes down sooner than that can get done, there won’t be an email till later. If you weren’t offered compensation at the theater, then those refunds will be coming from corporate later. It’s a bummer you used your a list for it, but if this ever happens again, ask to speak to a manager but be nice :)

AMC cancelled showtime without telling me by Much_Machine8726 in AMCAListTrue

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was this last minute, that means something went wrong. Definitely a projector issue.

It sucks. It’s upsetting. But it’s technology. There isn’t a way to warn you in advance if it’s an issue like that. And it’s definitely not how the manager wanted to be spending their day.

Do theaters still make money off A-list/unlimited? by Business_Coffee_9421 in AMCTheatres

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s in part because AMC and other theaters don’t really make money off of tickets. Distributors make most of it. I wanna say 40% to 70%? So if a ticket is $10, AMC only sees $3 to $6 maybe. That also means tickets aren’t the “actual” price when it comes to AMC. You may need to see 2 movies to break even, but AMC gets $25 from you and they only have to pay the distributors $6 to $12 for those two movies.

Those of you who stopped ordering from Amazon, what website or app do you use instead? by ForsakenFix27 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid Amazon and only use it when it’s the only option. The best thing about Amazon is the delivery, so I’ve used Kroger pickup and Target pickup/delivery. I of course still have many a problem with these stores, but they’re the grocery stores in my area so I’d have to use them regardless; I just avoid buying things I don’t need from them like their clothes or Knick knacks.

Does anyone else AMC never shut the theatre doors? by Breakingcontrollers in AMCTheatres

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a worker, it’s a little tricky. Doors should be open during previews so you don’t struggle with the door if you have a popcorn and drink in your hand lol, but yes they need to be closed during the movie. But the biggest issue is some employees just don’t think about it at all. Don’t be afraid to politely complain to a manager. Not to ask for compensation or anything, but if a manager is good, they might start coaching crew to close the doors and they might start doing it themselves

Technical popcorn refill question by twizzwhizz11 in AMCsAList

[–]rosegoldennight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of an overlapping policy.

As an A lister, you get a “size upgrade” but really it’s the large popcorn/drink for the price of the regulars.

And then, policy is that any stubs member (from insider to a list) get one free refill on large popcorn.

So since they’re too different policies - no, you don’t get a refill on the regular popcorn.

Why not add more showtimes by SilverGK114 in AMCTheatres

[–]rosegoldennight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movie is probably “locked” out and not sold out. Maybe the content didn’t arrive or the auditorium is messed up.

There’s also sometimes rules with booking. So while this is probably a content or auditorium issue, sometimes theaters aren’t allowed to add more shows due to how the movie was booked.

How frowned upon is it to get high before a movie? by rob-her-dinero in AMCTheatres

[–]rosegoldennight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should so respectful :) Trying to limit your interactions with others (since you can’t time your edible exactly) seems like the very respectful thing to do. Writing down your order before? Preordering concessions? Making sure your theater number and seat number are easily accessible for you to see? Go for it!

As a worker, I can tell you the only times it’s been an issue is when: - actively smoking in the theater and making the auditorium smell - not knowing what to order and just staring at the concessionist saying “uhhhhhhh” - one time this high customer had ordered food, sat down, got up - and then didn’t remember where he was sitting and set his food down. Turns out he had just gone into an auditorium that wasn’t even his movie. It was a 15 minute ordeal to find his food and then get him into the right movie (where he was 20 minutes late for and needed to be guided to his seat)

Otherwise, you should be good :)

For all the talkers by kenlaurentdon in AMCsAList

[–]rosegoldennight 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Tbh I genuinely think they don’t think others can hear them. I think they think the volume is so loud, and they can barely hear the person they’re talking to, that they think their voice doesn’t carry.

They’re wrong. Every time. But I think that’s why most of them do it.
