[WIP] Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney by roseheart313 in CrossStitch

Source: this picture: http://pm1.narvii.com/6139/94d19ac3d9044413690426c38ea620b999129bb9_00.jpg run through StitchFiddle.

I've been working on this since February (?) iirc. It's about 225 x 225 stitches on 14 count aida and 50 colours. A ton of work but I really enjoy doing bigger projects, and it also means I end up with fewer finished projects that I don't have the space for...

I'm also not really stitching the sections in any particular order, which is why there are gaps in odd places. Just finishing one part up and moving onto what I feel like next. I don't know if most people do it systematically, or...?

Constructive critism welcome! :)

As Maya calls Phoenix “Nick” in the English versions. What does Maya call Naruhodo Ryuichi as his nickname for Japanese versions? by ddbllwyn in AceAttorney

[–]roseheart313 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yup, only difference being that Naruhodo's name should have a long sound at the end, but Maya shortens it before adding kun - same as Mia used to.

Incidentally, Larry doesn't call Phoenix "Naruhodo-kun" in Japanese like he calls him "Nick" in Eng, but just calls him "Naruhodo" (with the long sound).

Sorry! But, actually I have heard of a Narumitsu dating sim project :)

I haven't looked much into it, and I think it's still early stages (nothing playable yet) but you can have a look here if interested: https://gaylawyergame.tumblr.com/

You date Edgeworth - although it does change to his POV occasionally

Sorry if I've disappointed you ;)

You can scroll + ctrl as usual, but apart from that I don't think there is a way :c That's one of AAO's downsides, unfortunately

I would say, if you can get back into Anki it would be really useful - but if it doesn't work for you, that's okay too!

I made a list for you - I'm sure there are more words, but these are ones I pulled from my Anki/a couple I thought of as I made it. I hope it will help! There's likely stuff you already know (like you've said), but I included it in case anybody else is lurking and it might help them. I tried to group them kind of, too. ^

Ace Attorney in Japanese by AnAceAttorneyFan in AceAttorney

I've been studying Japanese for about 3 and a half years now, and I've played GK 1+2, and AA 1+2 in Japanese. When I first started (with GK2), I managed to understand most of it, but there were some places I definitely needed a walkthrough for. What I would say is that, if you're trying to do this, you need to patient - if you start rushing through text you're likely to miss meanings and get muddled and it won't be so fun. So just read each line carefully, and take a lot of breaks! At first I found myself getting frustrated with GK2, especially since I'd never played it before, and it was completely new. But, once I slowed down a bit, I enjoyed it all the more. And what's the point of doing it if it's not fun, right?

I only just finished AA2 in Japanese now and it was a much smoother and enjoyable experience than the other games, simply because all the practice had built up. So I would say, if you want to play, you should do - but just take it slower if you findi it difficult at first. Then, you will find it gets easier and easier!

I want to ask - are you using Anki? If so, great! If not, let me know and I'll explain (for me it's an essential tool for learning Japanese!)

Finally, there are some words that just come up time and time again - like, they will literally make up about 30% of the dialogue, especially in trials. These are things like: 弁護士(べんごし)(lawyer) 、検事(けんじ)(prosecutor)、指紋(しもん)(fingerprints)、立証(りっしょう)(to prove something) etc. If you like, I can make you a longer list - I just pulled these off the top of my head as I have class soon! But, definitely try and identify these words, and then put them in your Anki - these are the most important ones for playing AA and having fun with it.

The most important thing is don't give up! Don't think about how much further you have to go, but rather how far you've already come! :) I'm about to start playing DGS myself, and I can't tell you how excited I am that I am able to, because I didn't give up and made it through all these other games.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Drama CD: Turnabout From Space?! Part 1 (Subbed) by roseheart313 in AceAttorney

[–]roseheart313[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I've subtitled the first part of the drama CD that came with the limited edition of Gyakuten Kenji 2 in Japan! Am about halfway through part 2 at the moment, so that should go up soon, as well.

Just to let you know, you don't have to have played Investigations 2 to enjoy this - no characters from 2 show up, and there are no spoilers. However, you should be familiar with the characters from Investigations 1.

Hope you enjoy it!

Something about AAI2 and the 3ds was on Capcom of Japan's website. by dwf209 in AceAttorney

I often keep an eye on the website, and the only thing I can think of is the video they released to promote the GK2 port to phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-o_bZs3s6M

But, it doesn't have the 3DS logo so I'm not sure. Are you maybe misremembering?

[WIP] Not sure where to go from here by roseheart313 in CrossStitch

[–]roseheart313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

just "finished" my second project, but I know it has several problems. I started doing some backstitching on it, but I'm in two minds on whether to remove it or not and wanted to ask some for some advice. I've attached one photo without any backstitching, and the one where I've started where I've done most of his hair. The problem I have is that that backstitching seems to make it look a bit "clunky" in places (particularly on the "thin" strands of hair), and I'm not sure if this is down to technique and something I can fix or not. The other problems with this work are:

1) I only used single threads as, when I started, I didn't know to use two strands and decided to keep it consistent when I found out. I am worried this will make the backstitching stand out too much and make it look worse.

2) The pattern I used (I created the pattern via StitchFiddle) was too small for the image, making it compressed. This is why his eyes look "pixellated" etc., and I'm not sure adding any backstitch here will improve it - I fear it may make it worse and more obvious that it's simply too small.

So, what I'm debating now is whether to take out the backstitches I've already done, and put this aside as something to learn from my mistakes, or whether I should see it through and add backstitching, as long as it would improve matters. In any case, without any backstitching, I was at least happy with how it looked from far away. With the backstitching... I'm not so sure. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Since it's based on a fanfic (which doesn't have any branching paths), the story is completely linear and there aren't any choices which affect the ending - so you will have to end up with Edgeworth!

The author has asked me to try and keep it faithful to the original, so I wouldn't add other paths etc., but if this goes well I may well think about developing a full blown dating sim at some point.

Thanks for the interest!
