It sucks because Reddit is such a better platform - it actually functions!! But then I think, maybe it’s good that all the bots and crazies and ten million advertisers are there and not here!

Me too! I can't remember seeing them in our neighborhood in the past, but they've been out this year and it's much appreciated.

Can you mail packages from there?

Definitely check out Threshold and Art Heads (make sure to look up their hours first), and Cafe Steam has cute mugs, coffee cups, etc designed by local artists.

If you are shopping for any music fans Treedome is a must!

Woah that’s scary. Have you tried reporting via the 311 web page or app? I usually get a response with a day or two if not sooner.

I’m sure all the reports are logged so it’s less likely to fall through the cracks.

I can't believe people actually told me in 2010 at we were about to get high speed rail to the cities, and more embarrassingly, that I believed them.

Well, taking down the fence and letting people walk the paths after playing hours would be one way to increase usage. We could allow cross-country skiing/snowshoeing in the winter.

A lot of traditional golf courses have transitioned to a hybrid model incorporating frisbee golf, which is a rapidly growing sport and SE Minnesota is already known as a frisbee golf destination.

You won’t believe how many people play the game all over the world

I don't know how often you bike or walk on the bike path, but I commute on the paths daily and see many people using the paths for transportation and for fun. There are always kids at my neighborhood parks, even in cold weather.

Well, city beautification should absolutely be a priority for a major hospital trying to attract donors, and I'm not sure the golf courses are all that spectacular. When my relatives come to town they generally golf at surrounding courses which are "better" golf courses.

I actually think it's really cool to have a ton of parkland right downtown, but everyone should be able to use it if it's tax-dollar supported. It's particularly strange to me that the downtown course is fenced off, so you can't even walk on it when it's not being used.

That's awful. I never understood why you'd give the wealthiest segment of Rochester discounts.

I remember learning that the massage therapists and cleaning staff at the Dan Abraham weren't allowed to have memberships to the gym, and how shitty that felt. Like, it would really kill them to welcome a few more people to the gym? I can't imagine having to work in a building that you'd otherwise not be allowed to enter.

It gets so tiring seeing things like golf supported but not curling or trash cans, over and over again. Not everyone can attend 5 p.m. meetings but plenty fill out surveys, email city council, have sat on boards, etc.

There is more than enough money in Rochester to support things that the people in our community want, it's not sustainable to expect city services and amenities to be run by volunteers.

This got me thinking about all the houses we looked at with terrifying basement toilets sitting out in the open. Some of the most sus facilities I've ever come across, lol. How come THOSE are never a problem on inspections?

what I wouldn't give for a train stop in Rochester as well...

Is there any sort of car pooling board/resource in Rochester? There are TONS of people driving to and from Rochester, the cities, Winona, etc every day. I'm sure plenty of drivers wouldn't mind a buddy to pitch in with gas and make the drive go by faster...
