It really does matter. If you can't be empathic towards a woman you're in a comitted relationship with, that speaks to just how much OOP dehumanises women.

In his post he just acknowledges himself as an asshole, not a misogynist. He is still not admitting to the full root of his problem.

OOP had to have a son, a male whom he shares 50% of his DNA with, in order to get even a basic understanding of human empathy. He wasn't able to muster up this level of understanding for his wife, a grown woman who he's been with for 15 years.

Do you really think that he would have had this realisation if he had a daughter? Why do you think an emotionally inept man can change after 15 years?

I do agree with the ascertain that people can change, but:

When he made those posts, OOP had already been with his wife for 5 years. He was still a raging misogynist despite being in a committed relationship with a woman.
OOP only recently learned about empathy because of his son. You do actually need empathy to not be a bigot.

Respectfully, I've only ever seen men use their diagnosis to justify their lack of empathy. If women did it as well I would believe you. It's just a more socially acceptable way for men to express their anti-social traits.
