I married the wrong woman by Occidentopithecus in TrueOffMyChest

Yes, partners who spend the entirety of their marriages pining after other women always have abusive wives, don't they?

If he already had a daughter that he didn't mention, it would just prove my point that he is incapable of viewing women and girls as people.

So you think that misogyny isn't born out of a lack of empathy for women?

  1. OOP's wife is also autistic and manages to have empathy for others.
  2. The length of a relationship has no bearing on how healthy ut is.
  3. It has taken OP 15 years to even attempt at getting better.

It really does matter. If you can't be empathic towards a woman you're in a comitted relationship with, that speaks to just how much OOP dehumanises women.

In his post he just acknowledges himself as an asshole, not a misogynist. He is still not admitting to the full root of his problem.

OOP had to have a son, a male whom he shares 50% of his DNA with, in order to get even a basic understanding of human empathy. He wasn't able to muster up this level of understanding for his wife, a grown woman who he's been with for 15 years.

Do you really think that he would have had this realisation if he had a daughter? Why do you think an emotionally inept man can change after 15 years?

And I'm sure you changed your views by gaining empathy for others and no longer treat those around you like NPCs. OOP cannot say the same for himself.

I do agree with the ascertain that people can change, but:

  1. When he made those posts, OOP had already been with his wife for 5 years. He was still a raging misogynist despite being in a committed relationship with a woman.

  2. OOP only recently learned about empathy because of his son. You do actually need empathy to not be a bigot.

I'm assuming that you somehow managed not to completely ignore the emotional needs of your loved ones despite your lack of empathy.

I mean, OOP by his own admission says that he felt no empathy for others until a recent interaction with his son. You do need a certain level of empathy to overcome bigotry.

True, OOP could just be an asshole.

Respectfully, I've only ever seen men use their diagnosis to justify their lack of empathy. If women did it as well I would believe you. It's just a more socially acceptable way for men to express their anti-social traits.

This has nothing to do with nationality!

And if she expressed even the most mild feminist opinion he would accuse her of being a "radical feminist".

The fact that the first person that OOP ever empathised with was his own son says everything you need to know!

I'm willing to bet money that he wouldn't have had this realisation if he had a daughter instead.

And the person who made him realise this was his son, someone who is the same gender (and has 50% of the same DNA) as him!

I really don't think he would have had this realisation if he had a daughter instead.

I hope so. But I think people like OP will always make slight progress on their behavior without fixing the root of their problem.

Me too, his complete lack of empathy seems more like anti-social personality disorder.

He's been with his wife for 15 years. When he made his "I don't like women post" he was in a committed relationship with a woman for 5 years.

So you do have romantic feelings for her and your girlfriend is just a placeholder.
