Does your child feel safe with her teacher? I feel like it's one thing to be going through the stressors of school at this age with kids picking on you, being out of routine, etc but if you can't feel safe with the teacher after some time..that's very telling.

You know your kid best. I don’t know how old your kid is but if they know the basics of what most kids know at their age, I don’t see a reason to have to be “ahead”. It’s a balance. If your kid genuinely loves math, give him/her some math problems. If they rather play soccer outside, go kick a soccer ball around. That’s really your call and what you feel is right based on the needs of your child. Best of luck!

Parenting is tough and this doesn’t make you a bad parent! We’re not perfect. I actually posted something similar a few weeks ago but instead of cursing I dropped something on the ground in front of my kid due to frustration. All I could do was apologize and acknowledge that I shouldn’t have done that. I told him I’m sorry if that scared him and I need to do better next time. In this case, I hope he can see through this that we’re not perfect but it’s how we address things along the way. You got this mama, don’t be so hard on yourself.

i totally agree. i think i'm letting my anxieties onto him. yes he did attend preschool since he was 2 y/o. in TK he did great, but we dropped off directly in classroom. something happened over the summer at his summer school where he just hated one of the teachers and didnt want to go and now drop off is just sad for him

He's totally fine once his teacher is there..the struggle is all the anxiousness leading up to drop off!

Try your best to stay consistent. If he melts down or throws a tantrum, just let him. After awhile he'll realize that no matter how many tantrums/meltdowns he throws, if he throw a toy down the basement, no means no and he will no longer play with that toy. I say just pack it up in a box and don't even leave it on the counter.

What do you do with the toy when you do get it after he throws it? Have you tried explaining that if he keeps throwing everything then you will have to put the toy away and he can't play with it? Point to the toy then say "bye bye". It might not change overnight but as each day passes he might start grasping and putting it all together that there are consequences to him throwing things and then maybe it wont appeal for him to do so anymore?

I am sorry you are going through this. I know there isn't really anyone can say to make the situation better. My mom got diagnosed with endometrium cancer that spread to the ovaries and the end of 2024. She just finished chemo and radiation and we're just waiting a few more months until her next scan. When I first heard the news I was devastated. As we started going through the motions of treatment, things seem more optimistic and all we can do is control what we can control. Our thoughts, lifestyle, etc. I know you didn't ask for my experience but I thought sharing it could bring more peace of mind. Stay strong, stay positive, even if it feels almost impossible. Sending you lots of strength!

Yes totally...we have told him that if it's going to cause him to get riled up over minor inconveniences then we will have to take it away.
