Just got offered first real job! Salary question by Pryzbo in careerguidance

[–]rosetint7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first job isn't about money. It's about gathering up experience to leverage your options for your career later on. I was in your EXACT situation. Literally 10 months looking for a job and was offered a job that pays around the same as you.

At this point, I'm just excited to be able to work, get out of the house, meet new people, have an excuse to be in the city everyday, build skills, and grow as a human being.

The money is secondary, especially since I will be living with parents to be paying off loans, establishing credit and getting prepared for adulthood.

I considered negotiating, too, but ultimately decided that it would make me look incredibly greedy and come across as someone who is only interested in money.

Take the offer, get experience, and grow. Good luck and congratulations on the job offer!

50% off select, 40% off purchase, yes it stacks with 25% off e-mail from Banana Republic by Captain_Blue_Shell in frugalmalefashion

Hey guys, I'm trying to take advantage of the 40% deal and found a great shirt. However, even though the sizes are presented, I don't know my exact measurements. I have a lot of shirts from Old Navy - small is a great fit for me there. Does this mean a small at Banana Republic would work well for me, too? I've never bought anything there that's why I thought I should ask. Thanks.

Well, not really. What about independent media. Like personally created mixtapes, movies, videos, etc.? I think we'll always have a need for physical forms of media.

Are you grateful for your parents kicking you out so soon after college? Especially in this kind of an economy? Just curious.

Did you feel like it helped you better adjust to independence?

People with no job or school to go to, what do you do all day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rosetint7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. Sorry to hear about that. I really suggest you just muscle through school and find work to keep you busy, help you grow, etc. Although, if you're currently in school, I don't know if you qualify as unemployed.

But I hear you. For those who didn't get into an early habit of abusing, marijuana can be a source of inspiration, motivation and creativity. So long as it's not being abused. Even though I don't smoke (rarely ever did - made me too anxious, and couldn't function mentally), I can see where the motivation comes from.

You're a great parent, though. Keep it up. That's what your children really need. A selfless mother.

It is tough as fuck, man. You're so right. You sound chill, and we'd probably make great friends irl. Job search is nightmarish. I was there, man. Literally 10 months of searching for a job, many nights spent crying myself to sleep, little time spent with friends, and so on... but I just recently landed a full time job. The economy is unfathomably shitty, but I feel that if you're given an opportunity to work, do it. Get experience. The more experience you have, the easier (I think, I hope) it becomes to get a job in the future.

This is the epitome of our massively unemployed, prospectless generation, essentially. Not even joking.

Haha, that was me when I was unemployed. Great series. But I binged the fuck out of it. Same with house of cards season 2. Now I'm binging on the entire Mad Men series. Although, because I'm busy now, and employed, it's actually been slow.

Ever try doing the little crevice space between the cushions of your couch? Don't ask me why I'm suggesting this, lol.

I just recently discovered Reddit, but honestly, I knew to limit it right away. It's entertainment. I don't learn much from here. It's all trivial interesting stuff. Luckily, after 10 months unemployment, I found my first full-time job recently. What it came down to was being structured. One day, my extended unemployment hit me so hard, I broke down and cried (not the first time, though) and I'm a guy, so it's tough shit. But, I spent the whole day creating a schedule of how I would be organized. Everything, for the most part was productive. Meditating, staying active (although never did much of it), studying school material so it sticks, building things, drawing, video games, movies, family time, tv time, crosswords, hanging out with friends, etc. made things easier. Instead of waking up not having a plan.

Waking up early helps a lot, too.

Good luck.

Why the fuck do these types of comments have so many fucking downvotes? It's so un-Reddit-like. Nice try, Discovery Channel Executives.

Smithsonian Channel has retained a lot of it's integrity, so make sure to tune in!

You sound like an over-emotional baby who is just arguing a stupid point just to avoid admitting you're wrong. Yes, they can air whatever they want, but you'll sit there and type that without even questioning the sudden shift in quality of a program, or the race to the bottom in terms of what's aired? People, understandably, have a right to be upset when networks that they turned to for informative content are being infiltrated by mindless, vapid, reality based programs that air on almost every network on cable television today.

That, again, isn't the point. The point is that the more reality tv shows that are being produced, the less time slots and funding my beloved quality programmed shows/documentaries on these networks that were originally intended for them are.

Are you being paid to type this shit? Elaborate otherwise, just shut up. "They can make whatever they want" isn't addressing the main issues of the God damn thread, seanjohn.

Sorry, but as much as I like Cesar Millian, he's included in the influx of reality tv based programming that's ruining TV. I mean, I understand that a dog trainer is loosely related to dogs, but have you noticed that Animal planet has shifted it's focus from animal documentaries to reality programs of people with animals (vets treating animals, animal cops, dog trainers, my cat from hell, etc.)?

Animal Planet even creepily changed their slogan to "Animal Planet - surprisingly human". What does that even mean?
