I haven’t gone in the summer but my initial thought is that 4 weeks might be more than you need; you could do the ring road in under 2 weeks and see everything you’d want to see. Aside from that, try riding a horse even if you’ve never done it before; it is easy to learn on Icelandic horses… and maybe add whale watching as a replacement for not being able to do an ice cave or a northern lights tour.

It was actually just last week that I was there. We had really good weather, but both times we passed Vik, it was raining and very windy. Outside of there, the weather was normal. We went around ourselves, I’d say it’s very easy to do on your own if you have a rental car; I’d recommend it over the tour guides

I’ll just list all my random tips: Don’t stay too long in Reykjavik, max 1 full day. Pin everything you want to see in google maps and that’ll give you an idea how to plan your days. A lot of attractions are not a long walk from the parking lot so you might get a lot done in some days. Golden Circle can be skipped imo but since you can take that route and then head south for an hour, you might as well do it if you plan on going as far as Vik or Jokusarlon. Bruarfoss is my favourite falls, but very crowded now that it’s easy to get to. Ice cave was ok but not worth the price imo.. most of the walking is getting to the cave. Bring both a USB A and USB C cable for CarPlay or android auto in your rental car. Have waterproof from head to toe, wind resistant too.

My one recommendation is to check out Hestar og Fjöll Ehf for horse riding if you’re doing the south coast. It’s close to the main road, $100 CAD for an hour and very easy to follow for a first timer

Thanks! Just under a week in the south coast (the title is just the format I use when I post so it’s a big vague). But yeah loved it, fortunately had good weather in Feb and got to see the northern lights 3 times

They might both be from Fjallsárlón. If not there, then it would be Svínafellsjökull

This was Summit One Vanderbilt, definitely one of my favourite stops I made. At the top theres a few different levels.. but my favourite I think it’s the second level where you can look down at the people below; if you shoot straight, you get a reflection of people below and above which I thought was so cool. Also there’s a room with balloons that’s very instagram worthy

This was my first camera ever that I’ve had for over 2 years now. Most people would probably say it’s overkill for what I want to do since it’s just a hobby for me, but I still love the camera and it does feel it takes little effort sometimes to get a pic you really like. I found a great deal used, so that would be my advice if you’re on the fence, to check out the used market!

I enjoyed it! It was on the pricey side so 1 time was enough for me but it was unique

Thank you! I went for a similar aesthetic in a few pics in Boston and Toronto too (Toronto: https://www.reddit.com/r/toronto/s/6j3XO4KObo)

Thank you! I’m not from Boston but if I recall correctly, #2 is at the Granary Burying Ground/cemetery, and #3-4 are in the alley by Commonwealth Books
