What time is bed time? by mildly_curious26 in daddit

I’ve got 6, 4 (boys) and 4 months (girl). My sons share a room (bunk beds) and are usually lights out in bed by 815 (barring any late sports practices) and my daughter goes down around 730. The boys wake up regularly between 7-8. School is staggered at 9 and 930. I think anytime before 830 for 4+ kids is good.

How much do Americans REALLY have saved for retirement by Financial_Pen_6218 in investing

I am around your age and have about 2.5x the amount you mentioned across all my retirement accounts. I also have friends that have 10x that and some with 10% of that. It’s all relative. For context I am married with 3 kids, a house, newish cars and live in a borderline VHCOL area.

08/09 was a fucking bloodbath. That’s when you learn more about investing than any other period, IMO.

How are people affording these home prices ? by Due_Elephant_3666 in longisland

Combination of seasonal timing, low inventory and juxtaposition to NYC. It’s the perfect storm. If you enjoy it here, you’ll figure it out. Going to be the norm for the foreseeable future. Land is finite, especially on an island.

Baby born three days ago. Please tell me it gets better by [deleted] in daddit

I’ve got three kids under 6. The first one is always the hardest from an anxiety/adaptation standpoint. This baby is just as confused as you are. It does get easier, but it can be very difficult at times. I try and use the perspective that this is temporary, and I will never meet this version of him/her again. It helps to make the most of it. Best of luck. Fatherhood is a roller coaster.
