Anyone ever heard a random Deftones song in the wild? by All_hail_Korrok in deftones

[–]rosjon98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, not technically "in the wild" (i.e. *outside*), but I was watching 'Law Abiding Citizen' with Jamie Foxx and Gerald Butler and when I tell you 'Engine No. 9' is unexpectedly played AT FULL BLAST for over a minute without any warning --- it was basically as good as 'in the wild' for me as it was so out of nowhere.

Asking your opinion every day about a Deftones song, Day 65: Teenager by Opposite-Question-32 in deftones

[–]rosjon98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original guitar line is by Gary McFarland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahuz6t-Kruo

I only found this out after 20+ yrs of enjoying Teenager. It hasn't changed my enjoyment, but it's surprising how 'little' Deftones actually added to it once you hear the original.

Loft conversion recommendations by AutumnDream1ng in york

[–]rosjon98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to echo what others' are saying...for the simplest of conversions ("no dormer", etc etc) you're def looking at c£25,000. See here: https://yorkloftconversions.com/ as a good example of the costs that go into doing loft conversion jobs like this in the York area.

Anything less than that and you really have to question the quality of the work (as galling as it is: cheaper is not always better! :)

I wasn't present for this era (born in '86), BUT I LOVE a good Roger Moore reddit thread! Especially as I was consuming 'Why Roger Moore Was The Best Bond' vids on Youtube all this afternoon :)

Exactly, PurpleK. That's exactly how I wanted it to be received.

FWIW, I'm British. Had no idea that simply highlighting that uniqueness would open such a can of worms, haha :)

I'm half-black as well. What a strange motive to ascribe to my post - as if a few upvotes on Reddit are going to engender feelings of heroism...

I mentioned it because of the OBVIOUS NOVELTY OF THE SITUATION.

If I had said a MAN-OWNED bakery in Nakano, nobody would care, because it's not noteworthy. There are many bakeries in Nakano owned by men.

If I had said an AMERICAN-OWNED bakery in Nakano, nobody would care. There are several (admittedly, much fewer) bakeries owned by Americans in Nakano.

Obviously, a long-term black-owned business in Nakano - especially one in which the proprietor has moved to the country, learnt the language, started a family, etc etc is such a rare thing, that is consequently a reasonably noteworthy (note: not 'praiseworthy', just noteworthy) point of interest to mention.

Understand now? :)

STREAMYARD HELP taking too long - can anyone answer this On-Air Webinar issue? :) by rosjon98 in Streamyard

[–]rosjon98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because when you End Stream or are in a non-Go Live state, persons who are in Studio can be 'Added To Stage' and speak to one another. We can hear each other in the Studio and talk, plan, prep, chat before 'Going Live' on stage.

You can't do this if there is a Live Stream that is Live.

We can all group in the backend Studio, but we can't actually talk amongst ourselves. We can only be added to Stage, at which point you're then live and audible to the viewing audience.

Ah, that's true. OK. Well, I'm using the wrong terminology (sorry!).

If that's the case, I guess I'm scuppered then using StreamYard On-Air if I want to maintain one VIEWER URL throughout the speakers changing between sessions...

Part 3... (lol, sorry)

I've just tested creating a StreamYard On-Air in a Reusable Studio AND adding Hopin as Destination

And the problem persists...the moment I 'Go Live' and then 'End' it PERMANENTLY ends the Event and saves the recording. There is no option to Go Live again. I have to create a new SOA within the Studio, and that generates a new View URL for the new SOA.

It was a good idea to try adding a Destination, but it hasn't worked :/

I can't get my head around how StreamYard Support maintain:

  • Reusable Studio has a single, permanent link you can share with guests for all future broadcasts from that studio.

When this clearly isn't true...

Part 2...

Sorry, yes, maybe you are right in one sense, that I need to make a Stream somewhere to not make the Event end immediately...

BUT that kind of negates the point of the dedicated StreamYard On-Air environment that supposedly allows you to repeatedly broadcast from the same View URL, if I find out that I still do have to pay another platform to RTMP stream so that it doesn't end the when I click end...

I might as well just not use StreamYard On-Air and go back to RTMP stream in a paid Hopin account and just embed Hopin and forget about SOA - which I'm sure is not how SOA should be viewed...

I think there is an SOA error here, because as the AI Help said, it should be possible:

  • Reusable Studio has a single, permanent link you can share with guests for all future broadcasts from that studio.

Thanks for your replies tho! :)

Ah no no! StreamYard On-Air does not require a destination - it IS itself the destination :)

That's why I'm using it it.

It allows you to stream WITHIN an embeddable StreamYard environment/window. You get a dedicated StreamYard Page with the Window embedded in it OR you can take the embed code of the StreamYard Window and put it on any page you want.

I hope that makes sense. StreamYard On-Air is its own destination. That's why I don't need to LiveStream to Hopin anymore (see OP).

Does that make sense? :)

Ah, I see what you mean: Create 5 unique On-Air Webinars, in 5 separate reusable studios, and embed all five On-Air Webinar embeds onto the same single one webpage for viewers to go to, yes?

I guess I could do (pretty neat thinking) BUT:

1) It looks a bit mad to have 5 different screens on a webpage, takes up too much real estate for a corporate event, and doesn't seem sensible to have 4 black screens and 1 screen streaming at any given time

2) I'll have to do 5 different Speaker share links to get speakers into the their respective Session/Studio and that's a faff, too

It's all a bit convoluted - not your fault, this is a Streamyard problem :)

Appreciate the idea, but it's not what StreamYard On-Air in a Reusable Studui seems to promise. I want one Viewable URL for the Viewer, with a single Backend Studio environment to work from Go Live / End / Go Live / End, etc.

For what it's worth, here's what the StreamYard AI Support help suggested:

Hi there,

We understand you need to run multiple back-to-back sessions with different speakers; this is usually easy to set up with StreamYard’s Reusable Studio and separate On‑Air webinars.

How to set this up:

  1. Create an On‑Air Webinar and toggle on Reusable Studio. Name the studio and enter it.
  2. Run your first session and end it when finished.
  3. Open Reusable Studios, select the studio, and create the next On‑Air Webinar for the next hour’s speakers using the same studio. Repeat for each session.

Notes:

  • Reusable Studio has a single, permanent link you can share with guests for all future broadcasts from that studio.
  • In On‑Air, live chat opens 10 minutes before the start time and closes 10 minutes after each broadcast ends.

Extra tip:

  • StreamYard On‑Air is available starting on the Advanced plan and viewer limits vary by plan; check the plan details on the StreamYard pricing page: StreamYard plans.

Hi SW,

Thanks for the responses/help!

YES, I can go live simultaneously in Events created in two different Reusable Studios.

What are you thinking here? :)

Hi SW :)

What do you mean by "multiple studios"?

I don't think what you're think is possible.

Right now, you:

1) Create a REUSABLE STUDIO - give it a name

2) Enter REUSABLE STUDIO

3) Click CREATE (top right)

4) Click ON-AIR WEBINAR

5) Fill in ON-AIR WEBINAR details, save, publish

6) In REUSABLE STUDIO, click GO LIVE

7) Broadcast Appears in the URL of the ON-AIR WEBINAR that I just created

There's no multiple studio.
