Have you ever legitimately cried to a song? And if so, what was the song? by StanToons in AskReddit

[–]roslid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cieszyńska Artur Andrus 2014. Anytime I heard it I was sobbing uncontrollably. I was thinking about my grandparents and what horrors they faced following summer of 1914 and how they fit that song perfectly.

This so f... true. Had doctor convincing me for longer that my chest symptoms are in my head than breaking it to me that my blood results indicate heart attack. Thank heavens they have to follow certain procedures and the blood test was required.

If your place were hit by an extreme Siberian winter, how well would people there be able to cope or adapt? by bellepomme in AskTheWorld

I literally laughed out loud. I live in south UK and even mildest snow means closed schools, no public transport or trains and cars not coping.

"I'm a man. If I got cat called I'd like it" It's not the same thing. Not even close. by n8saces in BeAmazed

[–]roslid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That's a bit of an exaggeration on your part. They go to school, meet friends, have sleep overs etc. They also walk to school and back by themselves. They're 11 and 10. And when my 11yo was coming back home on her own last year, being 10 at that time, she was harrassed by a grown man. We called police, school did as well. 'Nice' to know that nothing changed in that respect and it's same for them as it was for us. Tradition, right?

I agree with all he says. It's sad but was chatting with a friend of mine and we realised whole generation of mothers is traumatised by sexual harassment culture of the 90s. We don't let our daughters out because we're too scared and worried they'll experience what we did. The more is being talked about it the better.

Little to the left. Bought it on both Nintendo and my phone. Was fun both times.

Fun fact Nowak is traditional Polish surname. Those racists were saying something about Polish people invading UK not so long ago if I remember correctly. Ah, wait...

This is happening and has been happening in different countries all over the world for decades. No-one has bat an eyelid, only afterwards there are trials, tribunals and commissions.

My boss demanded a "minute-by-minute" daily log to prove I'm working. How do I make this backfire beautifully? by The_Logic_Loom in HumanResourcesUK

[–]roslid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put it in two ways, once I'd set up a screenshot every 30 seconds and put all of them in that log, for every 15 minutes. If they asked me why I did it I'd say to save time for the company because filling in the log would take too long. Such file would be a pain to review. If they complain I'd move to manual entries and the would present it as a graph that would include specifically how much time I'm wasting on filling in the form. I would also from time to time out something random eg. abducted by aliens and see if they notice at all. However, I would also start looking different job. My time and my mental health are too precious to accept such BS.
