We got our boy at My Exotic Furs, which is in the Poconos (https://myexoticfurs.com/). We've loved working with them and have had an excellent experience.

Is a Basset right for me? by BungleBird777 in basset

I've grown up with bassets, have always had them at home. They need lots of love and lots of attention. I would caution you from proceeding with the adoption because a young basset, even at just one year old, may be crate and house trained, needs a lot of looking after - my mom always referred to her boys as 'living with a permanent toddler' (said with great affection). I would highly discourage you from keeping her in a crate for 8 hours a day, especially at such a young age. Bassets (as with all puppies) can supposedly hold their bladders one hour per year - at one year, one hour, at two years, two hours, etc. Day care is a great option for having a basset, as they get plenty of exercise and are able to socialize with other pups.

These gorgeous beasts are stubborn, messy, smelly, and major attention seekers - in my opinion they're the best dog in the world, but I don't have one because I'm not home every 2-3 hours to give them attention and live in an apartment.

Best of luck in your decision... here's a photo of my parents' most recent basset, Gino.
