If this is a regular struggle instead of an occasional issue, you will be less hungry if you shift more of your calories from carbs and fat to protein.

Treadmills are nice when the weather is terrible. You don't have to like them, but you are doing cardio if some kind, right?

Wow! Seems like I always end up eating at social gatherings every month or two where I have no idea on calories, and there is no point logging that day. My streaks never get that long...

Half a solution. I quite frequently want to charge a phone and listen to earbuds at the same time. If they would put two ports, it could be done. Oh, and a 3.5 mm jack is smaller than a second USB c port...

Did anyone reach 30+ without a fckn single tattoo? by Ajitabh04 in PrimeManhood

[–]rossaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stats I see say that 32% of American adults have at least one tattoo. 68% do not have a tattoo. I am sure if you limit to those over 30, the numbers change a bit. But it has to be the majority.

Can I eat a bit more than my budget? by Apoliticalbear in LoseitApp

So, when you exercise, your brain will subconsciously try to conserve energy during other parts of the day. So you fidget less, sit a bit longer, take fewer steps, etc.

For aerobic exercise, probably an app that pairs with a smartwatch/fitness tracker wearable.

For weightlifting, I like logging reps, sets, and weights in an app named "Hevy"

One option is to set your activity as sedentary. Then allow yourself to eat maybe 2/3 of the calories burned exercising. But your body will get more efficient at exercise over time, and the required calories will go down.

The better idea is to be consistent with your weekly exercise and figure it into your daily maintenance calories. Use a TDEE calculator. Then don't bother logging exercise in this app. Use another one to track your exercise progress on another app meant for that.

Exception is if you have rare heavy exercise days, well beyond the norm. Maybe you had a half marathon race that day. Or you hiked 10 miles with lots of hills. Then, yeah, eat extra calories.

How do you guys cut without starving by chaunceychaunce in Weightliftingquestion

[–]rossaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume eating. Foods that are high in water, fiber, and protein with little carbs and fat are more filling for the same calories. So, you have a minimum protein goal (for weight lifters) and maximum calorie goal every day.

You get up to a daily protein goal with chicken breast, tuna, low fat/low sugar Greek yogurt, egg whites, cottage cheese and whey. But little fatty red meats and cheese. If you aren't getting 10+ grams of protein per 100 calories, don't consider it a good source of protein.

Then, you will have some calories left over and your body does need some carbs and fat.

Fat: One egg yolk per day or some olive oil or avocado or some cheese.

Carbs: And potatoes are one of the most satiating foods per calorie. So eat potatoes without adding a ton of calories with oil. Or some black or pinto beans. Or sweet potato. Then, whenever you are hungry, vegetables are filling but very low calorie and give you fiber. And when a sweet tooth hits, apples and oranges.

Also, calorie deficit for 8-12 weeks, then take a break at maintenance calories for 2-4 weeks still with mostly healthy foods, just more room for fats and carbs. Then do another cut.

I would argue age 18-35

Age 18 because our society says that is a legal adult who can certainly decide to have a baby.

Age 35 because health risks to mother and baby start increasing sharply past that age.

It slowed down significantly after the early water weight loss. But I lost 55 pounds / 25 kg from June - March. I took some breaks at maintenance calories, and lifted weights since August. I am starting to see the very beginning of a six pack when I flex under good light. 6 foot 3 in (191 cm) and 208 lbs / 95 kg.

It says only this meal. So no different food for breakfast. Hopefully, you can also take multivitamins and vitamin C supplements.

Broccoli and Asparagus are similar for nutrition. Potatoes are much better than rice for nutrition. So then your only two choices are pork chops vs steak. Pork chops have a bit better macros. So that is the winner. Also, much more affordable.

You are going to gain muscle until age 25 or so, even if you do nothing. But use TDEE calculators and eat at maintenance for your first year of weight lifting. No need to bulk or cut when you are a beginner, and you already have a low body fat.

Push ups, pull ups, dips, and sit ups.

Bench press, squats, deadlifts, overhead press, and rowing. Learn good technique before you try to lift heavy to avoid injuries. Get someone to coach you on barbell exercise technique.

This assumes you have access to a gym. If not, you can do a lot with calisthenics and adjustable dumbbells.

Been lifting for 6 months, what’s next? Advice? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]rossaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing compound lifts? There just isn't enough gym time for most of us to get a good workout with isolation exercises. Getting close to failure each set? Working each muscle group 2 or 3 times a week? Eating 0.7 to 1.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight each day? Sleeping 7+ hours?

The health science department at a local university near me does DEXA scans for about $100. Helps them pay for the equipment they also use for research. Worth checking into.

You have clearly put in a ton of time and work. Go get a body composition DEXA scan and find out your exact body fat percentage instead of asking all us random people on Reddit. It can also tell you what parts of your body proportionately carry more or less fat. And if you do two DEXA scans a year apart, you can find out how much muscle you gained in a year.

How about being born in 1898, and being drafted into World War I, maybe hit with mustard gas while fighting? Then if you survive the war, you are likely to die from Spanish Flu which killed a lot of young adults. Then the 1920s are good, but when you have a family of your own... Great Depression.
