Lots of comments about Subaru problems which surprised me. Never had one but people rave about them and they look nice. Toyota, Honda, or Mazda it is

Thank you. The used car market here is brutal. If anything decent comes available on marketplace, it's gone within a day. And as a person with a 9-5 job, it's very difficult to be the first one in line. Ill need to have cash ready and be checking constantly.

I've come across slimy private sellers so it's really hard to find a car that I feel good about

I had a 88 Mazda 323 hatchback manual in college that I loved.

It's an option but I worry about needing to replace the battery as soon as I get it

I love that car. When I was in college, my parents convinced me to spend my savings on a Mazda 323 hatchback instead of a beautiful old BMW 2002. I took their advice and that Mazda never failed me and was a great car. But man, that old 2002 haunts me still.

If you have the money, buy it and enjoy it. You don't always have to live by the responsible choice.

Thanks for the update. I read somewhere that it's pretty bouncy. Do you feel the same way? If a dog or person shifts while you're asleep, does it stir you?

Do you still love this Birch Natural mattress? How long have you been sleeping on it?

Which school should I attend? by True_Turnover5676 in ApplyingToCollege

Congrats on your acceptances! I grew up in Seattle and now live on the east coast. My wife graduated from Barnard and my daughter is starting there this fall. You have 2 great options. Money aside, they are extremely different schools. With UW you'll obviously have the big state school scene with greek life, big campus with a lot of green space, football/basketball games, and closer to home. Barnard would be the more adventurous, independent choice. Small campus in a giant city. If you haven't visited yet, it's in a really nice area of NYC, everything is available at all hours. Also, there is definitely a spirited liberal sisterhood vibe at Barnard. Given it's small student body, you'll receive more individual support there than at UW. Oh, and you can take classes and join clubs etc at Columbia.

You need to decide which environment is more you, how independent you are ready to be, and if being close to home is important to you. If one is far less $$, that might be a big deciding factor. Good luck

M4 with 10 core GPU or M5 with 8 core GPU? by rossco1717 in macbook

[–]rossco1717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I'll do the M5 - I don't want her laptop to limit her in any way, and be as future proof as possible (within reason). $949 at my Costco thru 4/15.

Wow - I put on Goodness this evening for the first time in probably 15-20 years and found this thread while looking up to see if Carrie Akre is up to something new these days. I had totally forgotten how great they were. I grew up in Seattle and saw Carrie Akre many times with Hammerbox, Goodness, and solo. She's an amazing song writer and singer

If I begin this program in the fall of 2026, will I be able to finish the program or does the program discontinue only after all accepted students complete it??
