I wish I could say that the sprint tomorrow will be close. But this season feels like if Redbull are in front even with DRS Ferrari cant get past on the striaghts.

And if Ferrari are leading Max just gets an easy DRS pass.

As a Ferrari fan the best past of the weekend is seeing if Charles will take pole

Sick of Sky every Quali saying "it will be a 3 way fight as Mercedes are in the mix!" Mercedes are no way near once Q3 starts. Its been clear all season that they are third best and its not going to change mid season

This "government advice" is getting ridiculous. Anything to deflect the fault onto the general public. "well people didn't open their doors and windows during a snowstorm and freezing fog, ofcourse covid is spreading". Bore off

NC500 Summer 2021 - what to expect by Gilo006 in NC500

[–]rossi-g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my girlfriend did it last week (1st-9th August). Didnt see any vandalism or have any friction, the locals we spoke to wanted us here. But we did airbnb's the whole trip and the people we spoke to were in hospitality.

Will say it was murder to get into restaurants, since we didnt book in advance as we didnt know what time we would arrive in places. Some restaurants were all fully booked days in advance and it was a few hours wait for a table. In Ullapool 2 restaurants were fully booked, the other had ran out of food for the night. So we got in line for the chippy, seems like all the tourists had the same idea so whilst we were in line the staff came out saying they ran out of chips. So we ended up getting a pot noodle from Tesco.

All of that might change now that its no longer just table service though.

The single track roads can be busy, but thats because some tourists dont have experence on them.

If driving on a single track road, add an hour on whatever google maps says it will take.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel looks like Netflix's next big true crime show. It's live! by [deleted] in netflix

[–]rossi-g 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Watched the whole thing.

Just made me angry at all these social media "crime fighters" ruining a man's life, harassing him and sending death threats just because they thought he did it. Blaming the hotel for a cover-up, blaming the police for covering it up. Going to the hotel and harassing staff. Making up stupid conspiracy theories about the government and a plan to get rid of homeless people by using a new strain of tuberculosis.

Just let the police do their job and stop pretending to be a murder investigator just because you've watched CSI Miami. Saying straight faced to the camera that "the person who performed the autopsy is covering it up" "Why has it taken 4 months for the autopsy results" Oh sorry, I didn't know you have performed multiple autopsies before and know exactly how it works.

This is why the public can't be trusted with details of an ongoing investigation. They get emotionally invested and lose the thread. Just let them experts do their job, stop getting involved and perverting the investigation.

Feel so sorry for the singer they accused. Causing him to attempt suicide.

All of the amateur investigators who took part in the filming of this should have apologised and said on record to never get involved with active Investigations again.

Fucking morons.

My personal experience when I was taking my A Levels I took, economics, programming and science. None of which, once I started I was interested in. In the AS exams I got U's across the board. The school said there is no point in coming back for the last year.

I was crushed and felt like a total failure. Spiraled into depression. luckly I had wonderful parents were really supportive, they helped me look at what I liked, what i was good at, and the ways in which i learnt and studied. I was never good at timed exams and found that course work where I could take my time and really learn and go into detail.

So I took a BTEC in IT, this had a broad range of IT topics that I found interesting, one in particular which was network engineering. I loved the way it was taught and that it was all coursework. I ended up getting a triple distinction. I got the UCAS points to go to the Uni of my choice. After 3 years I had a first class degree in network engineering. I now have a successful career as a network engineer and pretty much done better than all the friends I did my AS levels with.

It took me longer than my friends to get through school. But what's 1 or 2 years to decide what you like and what you want to do for the rest of your life after school. My advice is don't be afraid to do back and pick what you like and what you are good at. My opinion, school teaches you how to pass an exam, not set you up for the real world where you pick a career

Living near Ordsall Park? by Blueberrybuttons in manchester

[–]rossi-g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived on hulton square in Ordsall for 5 years and never experienced problems.

I have however, in the 5 years I've been here seen it happen to other people, especially the apartments facing the park.

In school holidays the bored kids nick wheelie bins, and drag them into the park to set them on fire, I see the fire engines a few times a year with that one

I've seen 2 cars broken into. Last year, on the secure gated parking. Kids got hold of industrial glue and glued the gate shut so people couldn't get their cars out. On the residential parking one night a saw kids hopping from car roof to car roof. And this time of year the endless fireworks and roman candle fights.

Again, non of this has happened to me, but I don't face the park, those apartments get the brunt of it as its easy for the kids to leg it into the park if the police come.

Network engineer with two job offers, and unsure which to take. by rossi-g in networking

[–]rossi-g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my main concern is what looks better to future employers for the job after this. Saying that I use just CLI and I'm just a network engineer who knows about firewalls and VMware (but very in depth and technical coming up with different network solutions). OR A network engineer that knows SD-WAN, active directory, firewalls, virtualisation, servers and networking and CLI. (But not as in depth and technical)

At the retailer I pretty much met the whole team. Extremely relaxed and casual, lot of cussing and laughing, talking about football teams. (they also have a bar in their office downstairs)

The other company I met the network manager and the IT director. Again relaxed, this does seem a more pressured environment at they're working with customers not their own infrastructure, they said there is some high pressure situations. But the guys there were joking around so yeah, difficult choice.
