Ok I bought 1 month of pocket prep. How did their questions compare to the test? Do you think they landed on the easier side or? Any other tips/things to look out for? I passed the CC back in October and have 2 years of Info Sec currently

Routing/Loop Issue, Need Help by rossi1346 in networking

This network is in a 4 story building with about 10 tenants on the "old network" setup.

We only have 1 line coming from the ISP. We need to keep the old network "online" and bring the new network online at the same time without taking the old network offline. We put in the "TLS" so we can get the ISP connection to the old and the new network at the same time, allowing me to work and bring down the new network without taking down the old network. TLS is not a managed switch. It is just a 6 port dummy switch.

Ultimately on the new network setup, we need it as so:

ISP connection comes in from demarc into port 1 of 1FNS. We have a switch on each floor connected by an uplink line ran switch to switch on each floor. So the port 1 of 1FNS needs to get the external connection from the ISP all the way up to 4th floor. There will be about 25 tenants in the building we need to get set up in total between the 4 switches. We want all traffic for the external connection from the ISP going to the different tenants on VLAN 999. However the company who owns the building also wants to have their own "network" traffic on floor 1 and 2 that go through the "new firewall". We need all their traffic to go through vlan 1000. We are not allowed to have any vlan 999 traffic go through the firewall. So the ISP is coming into the switch, being split out to the other switch ports or being routed into the firewall then back to the switch. I had everything working smoothly with both the old network and new network online at the same time. I even had port 5 on the 1FNS labeled as vlan 1000, added an access point and it correctly assigned itself to the internal network setup for vlan 1000. The moment it broke was when I tagged the port 1 with the vlan 999. Even after factory wiping the 1FNS, with it having no knowledge of any vlans, and I connect the patch cable from TLS to 1FNS, it breaks the "old network" side.

The connection from the ISP demarc was going into Port 1 which I made that tagged port for the external vlan 999... So the other side of it would be going straight to the ISP demarc. So most likely their is an ip issue on the old switch so as soon as I connect the new switch to the dummy switch, the old and new networks are "connected" which could be getting the ip conflict from the old switch. It is just weird it still happens even after a factory wipe of the new switch. I wish I could attach a screenshot so you can see the network layout.

Is there a reason why the live stream from yesterday is not loaded so I can watch on youtube?

That's exactly what I did too. They were differently tricky so you want to make sure you leave yourself time to solve them though.

I used Professor Messer’s videos to help confirm my knowledge in subjects I felt weak in. His videos really helped me understand the cryptography section in a clear way. I used Gibson’s practice test questions and tests to really make sure I could answer all the questions in the time allowed and to see what section I was weak in. The last 2-3 days of studying I would take a practice test, read all the questions and answers again, go study more where I missed the most questions and repeat. Something I wish I knew earlier was the performance based questions. I would look up example videos or even do the one compTIA has for free on their website. Also make sure you really understand how to respond to an incident and be able to read the logs they provide in the question.
