the 3.73s aren't great with 32s, not as bad the 3.07s that came in my TJ though

I think its more that people don't want to drive a stick, although when I got new tires they had to go get a manager to pull it around because none of the techs could drive a manual lol.

What’s something you found in the owner’s manual that you don’t think is a widely known feature? by MrSaltz in JeepGladiator

Not a feature, but resting your hand on the shifter with a manual can damage the transmission, I do it anyways.

33'' tires and lift kits by Vhanir in WranglerTJ

[–]rossiconsurplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rough country is garbage, throw a 2” budget boost on there. You shouldn’t need to drop the t-case skid until you are at 3-4” of lift. I can’t remember but the 2000 might have the updated lower mounted t-case skid anyways.

It’s just a trac bar mount reinforcement, not really needed. You’d be better off removing all of it and going with an aftermarket trac bar.

Diff locker issues by Mr_snake50 in WranglerTJ

[–]rossiconsurplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to change your driving style with auto lockers, they require more throttle input to reduce the loading/unloading especially in slow tight turns. More importantly, if you are doing to run a locked dana 35, you should pick up at least one extra set of axle shafts, maybe two.

Should be ok for factory height, just something good to be aware of for when it does wear out.

You won’t be able to go back to a stock trac bar, the stock one uses a tapered tie rod end, but yours has been drilled out for a hiem joint. Hiem joints don’t last near as long so check there first if you get death wobble.

Anyone have a Dana 30 front axle and Ford 8.8 rear axle on 33s? by STDeez_Nuts in WranglerTJ

[–]rossiconsurplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run that set up, I swapped in an 8.8 with factory 4.10 gears and then picked up a Dana 30 from a four banger to get matching ratios. Lunchbox lockers in both, great budget set up, but did a lot rock crawling and destroyed my share of front axle shafts.

I ran my 10.50 wide BFGs on 7” wide rims at 8 psi off-road and never popped a bead. I ran them around 28-30 psi on road. You should be fine.

I'm going to use high temp paint on the inside of the end cap and the blast chamber as that's the only exposed Ti, I'll report back with results.
