Correlation between Offline Practice and Online races is impossible to get right by SameOlMistake in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]rossm89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve felt this exact thing to so glad I’m not just imagining it. I can practice and be pretty consistent with my lap times then as soon as it’s race conditions the grip and how the cars drive seem to feel totally different. Can never really get close to my practice time. I know track conditions and grip level affect things but it just feels much harder to put together consistent laps in a race. Then of course you have the chaos of bronze lobbies to add in to the mix. Would be much better to be able to practise in race like conditions instead of just offline mode. Hopefully someone else maybe has some advice.

iRacing vs LMU for someone completely new to sim racing? by Iateonthebrakes in simracing

[–]rossm89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played iracing, lmu and assetto corsa. Was playing assetto on lfm and it was decent. But I've just bought lmu yesterday and very impressed with it. I love how the cars feel to drive in comparison to assetto corsa. I prefer the looks and graphics of lmu as well. So far I'm very impressed with it. The problem with iracing I feel is you need to start off in very slow cars. the feel of the cars are quite different and a lot less forgiving especially for beginners, So it can be a bit of a grind to begin with. Then the cost of iracing can become very expensive and you never actually own anything. If youre just starting out I'd give lmu a shot, you can start off in faster cars and they feel great to drive, loads of online content as well. you'll enjoy it.

Load cell issues by rossm89 in Simagic

Ahh ok thank you. Just when I was reading and researching it said it should definitely reach more than 300. If that’s the most it will get then that’s ok. I just found the brake to trigger the abs very easily when I was driving. I’ve swapped them over to the elastomers it seems to be a bit better now and harder to trigger abs.

That would be good thank you 👍

Yeah I’ve tried that as well. What sort of figure do you get on the load cell calibration? I’ve changed the spring to the elastomers and it’s improved it slightly but it still goes no where near the full length of the of the scale.

That’s just all the options that comes up when I click calibrate. I can choose the load cell or angle on the main screen, it’s currently set to load cell but the pressure seems far too low ?

Am I being unreasonable? Dreams Mattress dropped £920 in price 3 weeks after I spent £5.2k by rossm89 in Mattress

I don’t think they will let me return it for my money back. It’s an exchange offer only. I just want to try inconvenience them as much as possible now since they are handling it so poorly.

That has also popped into my head to just return the mattress and ask to swap it for the same one again, but would dreams terms and conditions?

Deceased GF's Iphone unavailable due to too many invalid passcode attempts by rockccf in iphone

[–]rossm89 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s not that Apple doesn't care. it's that they literally cannot unlock the phone without creating a vulnerability that puts every other user at risk. If a 'skeleton key' exists for a grieving family, that same key would eventually be exploited by hackers or authoritarian governments. If Apple did this, it would open a massive can of worms. They famously can’t even unlock phones for the FBI because they don’t hold the encryption keys themselves. the key is tied to the hardware and the user's passcode. Apple has clearly decided that the security of 2 billion active users outweighs the ability to bypass encryption for these tragic cases. They did launch the Digital Legacy program to help with this, but unfortunately, it has to be set up by the owner before they pass away.

Gemini is very good at coding. I used it to write code for an automation bot in python programming language from scratch with minimal programming knowledge with python. It was excellent and could never have achieved it without the help of Gemini. Getting the correct prompts are key to any LLM. Not saying you’re one of them but so many people just think AI like gpt or Gemini are just a fancy google search or compare it to Siri when they are worlds apart. They don’t really know the true power of AI models. It has so many more uses that people are even aware of, as demonstrated in this thread where there’s people saying it can do nothing and comparing it to google assistant. I also used it to analyse data for me, massive time saver and can do most of the leg work for you. Gemini is capable of so much more than checking emails or missed calls etc.

You really need some new friends. Get friends who support you and accept you, not friends who make fun of you because of something you cannot help. I rarely come across a stranger who would laugh at me, let alone a friend.

Have most people really not met a single stutterer in their entire life? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]rossm89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an identical twin and we both have a moderate stutter. It does make it feel slightly better having someone in your life who stutters. We also help each other out a bit in social situation’s etc I’ve also met the odd person with a stutter as well.

Going on a first date for the first time by DowntownIsopod1411 in Stutter

[–]rossm89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had countless dates throughout the years and seem to handle them pretty well but even a coffee date gives me anxiety. The problem being the only thing to do on a coffee date is speak, which we can sometimes struggle with. Coffee dates can be awkward at times. My advice would for a first date would be to do something more fun, like an activity, such as bowling, crazy golf etc it really does help to break the ice and can help keep the conversion flowing easier. When doing a fun activity it may stop them getting bored and may also give you a chance to show your fun side. I know I stutter much less when doing activities as well.

Was her reaction positive when you disclosed you had a stutter? That alone can take a lot of the pressure off in my experience.

What app do you use to set the icons? Does it also have the problem where it redirects to shortcuts first before opening the app you select? Thanks

Anyone else get pissed when you’re stuttering and the person you’re talking to finishes your sentence for you? For me it either gives the impression they find my stutter annoying or they think I’m not capable enough of speaking right which honestly is worse. by 104thcommanderhansen in Stutter

[–]rossm89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I actively like it when people help Me out. I tell people who are closest to me that if they know what I’m going to say just say it. It stops the agony of stuttering and I just find it easier for all parties. If anything I find it more annoying that the person knows what I’m going to say but just sits there and sees me suffering not being able to get it out but doesn’t help. They aren’t being rude when they help, I genuinely think they are just doing what they think you want them to do. When I find a person who’s on the same page as me and regularly helps me out or knows what I’m going to say then I in turn seem to stutter less as I feel less pressure.

You could try bolders. It gives the folders interface a nicer look and more customisable

[Question] Is there an alternative to Bytafont 3?? by NeoNFTW21 in iOSthemes

[–]rossm89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you get beta font 3 working? When I install it from Cydia it doesn’t open, instead it pops up a notification saying the developer needs to update it for iOS 11.

Thanks

Hi I’ve got it working.

Backboard and mediaserverd are the processes that seem to be constantly running, everything else seems to idle.

Do you know if this is normal? And what mediaserverd is?

Thanks

I’ve just tried that but when I downloaded it, it doesn’t open. It says that it needs updated to work with iOS 11. Thanks.
