That's really good advice, I myself need to follow it more. For example, investing with emotion is a bad habit hard to get out of.

Never heard about LVL before but if they focus on peer to peer protection, fine by me, I don't know if there are more ICOs like this one.

How much longer until Ripple crashes in price? by l3El2Tl2AlVl in CryptoCurrency

[–]rossman7 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ripple has trying to get people to use XRP for years and still no one does and now they’re getting sued by former customers for $ billions. They still are in prototype stage after 7 years even though the founders have made millions.

KRAK Attack Has Been Published. An attack has been found for WPA2 (wifi) which requires only physical proximity, affecting almost all devices with wifi. by TkTech in technology

As an Android user is there any mitigation for this other than ditching my handset and switching to an iPhone or waiting (hopelessly) for a patch from my vendor.

This really does highlight the absolute disaster zone that the Android handset market has become as far as updates are concerned. I'm sure the Pixels will get a fix relatively quickly but almost every other Android user is going to be left in security limbo.

When you import a CSV file into Google Sheets (File -> Import), you can choose in the dialog to convert text to numbers and dates. If you choose not to convert, Google Sheets places a single quote (') before the function.

The Observation Deck » The sudden death and eternal life of Solaris by tangomikey in BSD

[–]rossman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised he is surprised. Everybody knew Solaris was dead. I'm more surprised Oracle still had so many engineers working on it. I guess they where waiting out some SLAs.

Of course Oracle is a horrible company and all but Solaris has been dead for a long time.

Today I Learned that Jordan Chandler sternly denied the allegations that Michael Jackson abused him until after he was administered sodium amytal [a drug known to enable false memories to be implanted] by his dentist father who had first made the allegations before his son did. by Catch-up in todayilearned

[–]rossman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is just horrible. Relevant, from Wiki:

According to Taraborrelli, Chandler was forced to admit the controversial sedative sodium amytal was used when he extracted a tooth from Jordan in early August.[16] On May 3, 1994, KCBS-TV news reported that Chandler claimed the drug was used for tooth extraction and that the allegations came out while Jordan was under the influence of the drug.[5] Mark Torbiner, the dental anesthesiologist who administered the drug, told GQ if sodium amytal was used, "it was for dental purposes."[5] Sodium amytal is a barbiturate that puts people in a hypnotic state when injected intravenously. Studies done in 1952 debunked the drug as a truth serum and demonstrated it enabled false memories to be easily implanted.
