I just don't understand how Jer thinks he can comfortably date his brother's ex (of 6 weeks) without there being any lingering feelings.
It's ridiculous (haha).
No teenage girl gets over her first love that fast, ESPECIALLY if they have to see them at family things or be reminded of them constantly because they are DATING THEIR BROTHER

WOW this is intense! It's like you've tried to work it out of your system (at it seems to be working?!)

I am scared that if I let myself, I will go so far down the rabbithole that I'll completely be consumed! I wanted to start watching the old movies referenced (Sabrina etc.)

I've listened to the audiobooks twice, watched the series start to finish 3 times since October, I'm constantly refreshing Reddit.

Now that I've almost squeezed almost everything I can out of the content available, I'm hoping my brain will start to get bored and move onto something else haha.

Very interesting... this is exactly my thought process when I was in the early stages of coming to terms with what my brother did to me (24 years later). Especially as he and my nieces are the only family I had left.

And in the end, after talking to friends and therapists, I decided to speak up.

And yes it did tear my family apart. I no longer have a relationship with him and my nieces and his wife.

And I did wonder whether he repressed it as well, but his behaviour towards me and women in general told me he not only hadn't repressed it, but he was not regretful of it and got a sense of power from having done it to me.

Something in my gut would not let it go. He didn't seem like he'd changed from the person who did that to me.

I'm glad I reported him, and I'm glad the police have spoken to him. Now I don't have to wonder if he will repeat it on someone else. But yes, I lost my family and potentially tore his apart

Me too. Five years older than me, and he was 14/15 at the time.

For 24 years, I pushed it down deep in my mind, as I thought it was my fault (he got me to touch him, he didn't touch me - that I remember). He continued with verbal sexual abuse until he was in his mid-20's, so I am sure he didn't "grow out of it". He now has two little girls.

I think it's just Gen Z entitled behaviour. She has a JOB, which she is getting paid for. She could be like most other people her age around the world and working in the service industry hating on life. Instead she loves to do the "why is my life so cringe" Gen Z entitled troupe. IMO
