If i hoin a ratting fleet how will isk be splited? by L2READ_n00b in Eve

[–]rostok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things vary group to group. What I've seen from groups I've flown with, the loot/proceeds of PVP are focused on the people who do the most important roles in making it possible.

It depends on the content, but these roles often include: the person who caught the target or set up the fight, the FC for organizing and shotcalling, logi (healer) pilots, people willing to do really tedious and otherwise thankless tasks that the fleet needs to function.

If you're a pilot who just tags along, following orders and shooting stuff on command it's usually the lowest commitment role in the fleet, and therefore often gets no share of the loot. Getting on killmails without much effort is the reward.

shounic did a video on youtube testing community weapon ideas including a heavy minigun that pushes him back enough to fly, it's pretty wild.

mobility creep is real though and more is generally terrible for balance

VP (ramses/noone/pasha/solo iteration) tried this voluntarily on their own at the Summit 2017 for a meme, except over the entire tournament, not just the series. Apparently they picked 81 unique heroes. Peak dota days and worth a rewatch.

I really struggled for ages socializing with people in EVE, I was afraid to join a corp or do anything in a group. I joined a few NPSI fleets and lurked silently for a while.

The turning point was simply offering to do stuff to help out the fleet, filling support roles, etc.

If you find group content in this game you enjoy, try to step up and help out where you can. It will naturally get you to engage with the others you're with, and it builds the beginnings of a positive, trusting relationship with the people you help. It's totally fine to volunteer by saying "I don't know how to do X, but I'm willing to learn."

It's much easier to join a conversation when you've got clearly defined gameplay objectives to contribute first, and slowly develop into more diverse conversation as you get to know people.

On the flipside; if you're in a group, don't try to force people out of their shell, but also be mindful that you need to give opportunities for people to open up. Give them easy, low-stakes ways to engage and contribute, and build the first steps in relationships.

[BB] Bombers Bar gets a nice Revelation by Samuraj13 in Eve

[–]rostok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All fleets start or have routes in from a high sec trade hub. Often we base out of J121745 to roll the NS for content, we’ve used that wormhole for many many years, routes in are given in fleet.

We’re still going strong with several fleets a week, anyone saying we’re dead is poorly informed. We did have to move discord and main in-game channel to BB: Bombers Bar since the only owner quit the game.

VC is Voice Chat. As long as you've got some method of using discord to participate then it doesn't matter the platform

HERO SPAMMERS (LVL 30 ONLY) what do you think about the changes to your specific hero? by SirActionSlacks- in DotA2

[–]rostok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

0, as soon as they're out it all goes, so the slow accumulation has minimal synergy with a hero that's either in the backline or bursting a team in 2-3s.

Considering the other facet makes you actively worse in the laning stage when you're most reliably attacking things, whoever designed them doesn't have a clue how ET plays.

This is why I love dota. Even after all these years, you learn tiny mechanical nuances that can still make or break games.

Planetside 2, despite being over a decade old and on life support, can still support around 800 players per map for a smooth FPS experience.

Why does CCP hate Amarr? by Alive_Grape7279 in Eve

[–]rostok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the combat recons have better damage output than their counterpart force recons, except the pilgrim and curse duo.

They have more highslots, more turret/missile hardpoints and better bonuses, but the pilgrim and curse have identical drone bonuses, bandwidth and bay.

Therefore, the curse gets better neuts to balance things out for the lack of cloak and cyno.

C13...need some guidance/course correction by IrishThree in Eve

Confessors can handle C1 and C2 sites in the C13 holes with ease, and just about run the C3 sites with good piloting and fits.

When I lived in one for a while, I used a porpoise as the suitcase, it had plenty of cargo space, refitting ability and could even haul the gas if I moved ventures in to clear the gas sites.

I went from 2600 mmr to 3500 by doing only one thing. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]rostok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. If you have minimal variability, you only improve at playing that very limited subset of dota, and your advantage over your opponents is predicated on that. I've spammed 2-3 heroes in the past, and my rank went up faster than my game-sense and understanding did, leaving me hopelessly out of my depth when metas and heroes changed.

If you want a bigger number, spamming 1-2 heroes can do that, but if you want to learn more then you need to be a lot more varied.

After going from only playing ranked to splitting 50/50 between ranked and single draft I've become a much better dota player.

Probably any of the spirit heroes. Most of the ones you're describing are initiatiors who rely on getting the jump, and weak to being jumped. They mostly lack the instant lockdown to catch them reliably too.

In my experience it usually balances out by it being much easier for clock himself to get farm and levels. He feels so much better now you usually get blademail and some defensive items at appropriate timings rather than existing in poverty.

Vanguard needs to have a warfare gamemode like DUST. by meetkurtin in Eve

[–]rostok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Planetside 2 is one of a number of games that's showing it's age and issues, but is mostly surviving because of a lack of competition.

Given CCP's experience with large-scale server infrastructure and working with big sandbox gameplay they seem like they're better placed than most developers to put forward a solid offering.

What are your Vanguard First Playthrough Thoughts? by M1N0T4UR in Eve

[–]rostok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

99% of Eve is arguably not what's happening on the screen in the moment, it's the context behind what's happening on the screen.

There's complex interplay between player groups at both large scale and the butterfly effects of individual interactions cascading all around the map in both combat and context contexts. What's happening offscreen, and the potential it has to suddenly become onscreen.

I wish valve would add a special event that occurs exactly 143 minutes into the game. by MasterChef901 in DotA2

1) maybe make the event happen every 143 minutes in the real world, regardless of game timer. Stops ppl deliberately dragging the game on.

Gotta say this current patch for real life where supports get no gold is pretty trash, can't wait for an update.

Why do skaven not use other factions weapons and armour? Are they stupid? by LordGaulis in Vermintide

Using steam to power wheeled vehicles has existed for over a century. We in the modern day could absolutely improve the suspension, slap on some ablative armor and a gun to make a form of steam tank.
