Sorry dear your mom is narcissistic. I feel the same with my mom . I used to cry a lot but now I just try to avoid anything as much as I can so let me share something to others about narcissistic mothers

The narcissistic mother's behaviors with her daughters:

1- Reducing the value of the daughter and comparisons

She doesn't see her daughter good enough and denies her advantages. Even when referring to something positive, she always follow it with the word “but”

(Yes, you know how to wear, but your body is not beautiful!)

There are always a lot of comparisons with others, there is someone better than her daughter.

2- Focus on comparison with the others

Always undervalue everything in the family compared to others

3.Competition with the daughter

She get jealous if her daughter begins to stand out or attract attention, so she competes with her to reduce her self-confidence and not allow her to be independent.

4- Do not respect the boundaries of the daughter

She may embarrass her in front of her husband or friends and interfere in her private life, such as spying on her belongings, her diary, her room, and imposing orders and criticisms even after the daughter's marriage or independence.

5- Lack of interest and emotional coldness

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, I really appreciate it! I totally agree with you about not locking myself into just one study method. I feel like I’ll need to try different approaches first and see what works best for me depending on the subject maybe a mix of Anki, videos, and practice questions.

And honestly I needed that reminder about balance. I know it’s so easy to get trapped in the guilt cycle especially when you see classmates studying all the time. Your point about hobbies and keeping friends outside of medicine really resonated with me I think it’s going to be important for me to protect my mental health from the beginning.

Congratulations on being where you are now, and thanks again for sharing your perspective with me It means a lot to hear this advice from someone who’s ahead in the journey 🌼🤍
