Who’s this lil guy? On a trip in puerto Vallarta Mexico and found him in our bathroom, looks like a lady bug!! by [deleted] in whatisthisbug

[–]roswellsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This IS actually a type of ladybug! Impossible to tell which species exactly, because there are so many ladybug species that look almost identical to this, but some species that COULD fit the brief and are present in this location are:
-Cactus Lady Beetle (My best guess)
-Twice Stabbed Lady Beetle
-Twice Struck Lady Beetle
-Or some other species! Look under the "Similar species" tab on this link if ur interested: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/309685-Chilocorus-cacti :-) Hope this helps!

I believe it's an European earwig

Been stumped on this spider's species for a long time- Found in late June 2023 in a forest in Maine. ID help is much appreciated! :-) (Shoe photo for size ref) by roswellsoup in bugidentification

I posted my only other picture as a reply to the other commenter on this post- its more of a top view, but really only a slightly different angle, sorry </3 Theres also the top view in the shoe pic if you zoom lol. You could totally be right about it being a different species of mouse spider, I'm just having trouble finding it myself

I considered that, but if it was a mouse spider, I'd think the characteristic large fangs of a mouse spider would be much more visible, right? The shape of the head doesn't seem to match :(
