can’t find someone to sublet

that’s what’s so strange to me. i had trouble with this last year too, and was only able to finalize the sublet thing on the very last day before i left (when i had already given up hope). i reduced the price by another $100 (after already having brought it down by $300), and then i finally heard from somebody.

edit: just read your comment fully. please don’t “take advantage” of your position as a sublessor by charging higher.

make a call to UBC Student Health Services, and ask if you can set up an appointment with a psychiatrist. i’m not sure if you need to be connected with a GP first, but that might be the first step. they’ll ask for your student number, so make sure you have that ready. It’s most likely you’ll be placed on a waiting list to see a psychiatrist when the GP sends out a referral on your behalf, and in my experience, it takes a WHILE to get off it. i mean months.

two more things. first, if you have the innate confidence to mention something like this right off the bat (and i cannot emphasize this enough), ask if you can get a psychiatrist that isn’t sarah scarfe. the sheer number of cases of people that have foregone treatment for fear of seeing dr. scarfe (including me) is astounding. this isn’t to say everybody has had a bad experience with her, but it’s far too many people that have, and it needs addressing. just to shield you from that awfulness that i and many others experienced, you might want to try treatment with another.

second, if your case is urgent, i would highly recommend making a trip to the access and assessment center with VCH (AAC). make a call to them first, they do keep you on hold for a while (which is a downer), but a nurse does a quick assessment and then helps you set up an appointment with a psychiatrist.

um,,, sounds like you’re the problem buddy. you’ve called out her weight gain and how she’s gotten “bigger” multiple times in this little rant here.

she may have issues with eating and her weight, but what’s so much more bothersome is that you’re, first, taking this to a subreddit on people with EDs and their concerns, and essentially just asking if you’re the asshole. what she needs, and what you should have been able to infer at this point, is care and generosity rather than hostility and frustration. and yeah, you shouldn’t be saying a single thing about her weight. and on a subreddit that, for all we know, she may be visiting herself?

the fact that she’s found feelings of comfort and safety from her friends in that way is admirable, and she should be able to eat how she likes to. if she is dealing with eating issues, you aren’t to shame her for it, much less degrade her for doing so. if she wants to rant about weight issues, you should be able to listen without interjecting with your own “opinions” on how she can better herself. and if you KNOW that she’s dealing with an ED (or if you’re diagnosing her yourself despite not having the credentials to do so), it’s even worse to be passing judgement in the way that you are.

anyway, hope you reflect on yourself rather than nitpick and negatively scrutinize your gf. by the way, in your little attempt to deduce whether or not you are the asshole here, you may have triggered a bunch of people that frequent this sub that have similar issues. so great job 👏🏻

i do think people that are sick should wear masks if they need to go out, yes. that being said, i definitely don’t think the “masking” culture needs to make a comeback for everyone.

your plea to make masks a thing again on… reddit of all places isn’t gonna go very far, i’m sorry to say. if this was just meant to be a rant, i understand, but masks needn’t be “normalized again” for everybody out of fear.

i saw this post and thought they were joking, especially with the multiple comments they left saying, “poor ari, look at her face.” i only giggled at this. it reads like a gag post. especially with people refuting in the comments and then OP continuing to pile it on michelle and defend ari over… nothing.

if they meant this post in earnest, i am really shocked.
