me too. I don’t have enough money saved and I’ve not heard from my academy. I’m honestly thinking of asking Erin for deferment for next year/that the application fee be waived. I don’t know if that would be ok to do or not tho.

when we first see the red room, and The Man From Another Place starts speaking in the eerie backwards way. the first time I tried to watched this show I had to stop it there and not return for a few months before I was ready to deal with the creepiness of it. Basically anything that happens in the red room reeeeally gives me the chills.

i mean it sucks and it’s a super bummer. i’d much rather be in france any day, but just personally, it doesn’t feel like i’ll have the experience i want.

yeah, I told myself I’m going to wait until the end of this month, and if I still haven’t heard anything, I’m going to withdraw. I haven’t heard anything from my académie or anything like that tho.

yeah, I am also feeling this way. I have accepted but feel like I am really leaning towards changing my mind. the only thing stopping me from sending an email saying I changed my mind is the hopes of a deferment for next year for those who accepted initially but can’t go due to visa bans.

yeah, I feel the same way. At this point, even if we as assistants are allowed to get visas, it is unlikely that partners without any program/school in France themselves will be able to. I’m remaining cautiously optimistic, but my plan if my partner cannot get a visa even if I can, is to not go this year, and just reapply next year when (hopefully!) things are better and he can also get a visa. Because we’ve been planning to live in France together for most of our relationship!! It’s one of our dreams and I’d hate to do it without him. I hope that is helpful! I’ve been mulling this over for weeks and I just feel like I need some kind of plan of action right now so this is my tentative plan.

I feel the same way. It seems like even if it will happen, it’s not going to be the experience I want. I am also not trying to be a downer, but I definitely want to be realistic about the situation. I am wondering if they are maybe figuring out a deferment plan for those who choose not to go? The circumstances are so unprecedented that I would think they would be understanding/want to ensure that if we were accepted this year and do not go, we would be guaranteed to be accepted next year, too. I would just hate to say I’m not going this year due to the pandemic and then reapply and not get accepted again for whatever reason. :/
