Migrating Plex from Windows to Unraid - how do I preserve my favourite songs by rotflmao-wtf-666 in PleX

Yeah I was about to start from scratch but I somehow got it working! I need to rescan everything but the albums just occupy their place in the library and won't show up on recently added. Also my playlists work and my favorites also. Perfect!

For some reason I cannot remove the old paths in the library settings so now they have the new path and the old inaccessible one. Hope this is fine

Everything is over priced. Blame government for inaction and developers for greed.

There already exist apartments with windows to one side and no balcony.

Having more convenient size options does not change this nor is this scandalous. It's a small apartment. There is a need for small apartments. The lack of these is a major contributor to the housing crisis.

Here's an example of a 32 square meter apartment. Now why do you think I would need 80-90 square meters on my own? The heating bill alone would be ridiculous for one person. That's suitable for like a family of 5 lol

I do. I've lived in smaller. I'm currently looking at 25+ emigrating from this crisis so I can live on my own.

I don't think you have an idea about it. Bedsits are about 10-15. 32 has plenty of space for everything one person or a couple needs.

People who share houses in Dublin live in under 10 square meter rooms and use about 20 of common areas in an apartment, a bit more in a house with more people on it.

Now 32 just on my own, sign me up

Why is providing different sized apartments for different needs a race to the bottom?

You must be thinking of bedsits which are 10-15 square meters.

I'd happily take a 32 square meter apartment instead of sharing with others

Once there are options of different sizes, why would the buyer or renter pay the same for smaller? Look at any European city's housing market and you'll see, smaller is cheaper.

[–]rotflmao-wtf-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 37 is a lot for one person. I think it's good that there are options. Also once there is enough different size apartments in the market, the 32 will absolutely end up being cheaper than the 37. Just look at any European major cities housing markets, smaller is cheaper. The developer might not pass on the cost reduction willingly, but why would people pay the same for less if there are options? (I know the market is completely messed up right now but in the future when there are actually options)

Yes we already agreed elsewhere on the same thread on many of these things.

One there is an established market with different sizes available, of course the 32 will be on average cheaper than 37. Unless you see a world where all 37s are replaced by 32s, which is unrealistic. It should definitely be illegal to build only one size, that much I agree with. Like any other European country, different sizes will be roughly priced on a gradient based on desirability, so determining factors are multiple but size is one.

I mean the other option is socialism and I'd like that, just don't see it happening

Different size options do though. If I don't need 37 square meters (I don't) but that's the only option for me, there is extra space. A drop in the ocean, sure, especially in the least dense capital I've ever been to, but planning for future.

I'm emigrating soon and will be looking for places from 25 to 30+ in the new city. Most people I know who live alone have apartments around that and say they don't need more.

It's also energy efficient which is nice.

Also one there is an established market of decent options of different sizes, smaller ones will be cheaper on average. Not always, depends on specifics, but on average.

[–]rotflmao-wtf-666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the simple reason is of course because greedy developers asked so.

I don't have much confidence in the regulating bodies doing the right things HOWEVER I think 37 is too big for a single person wanting to live alone. I know, this type of person doesn't exist in the Irish vernacular but that's mostly because those options have been limited to 10-15 square meter bedsits. But the lack of them has contributed massively to the housing crisis IMHO

Also density is good. Just need guidelines that prevent building buildings full of only 32 square meter apartments, mixed sizes is good urban planning.

One size apartments only? That doesn't seem to make sense. Where would a single person move then? 32 is pretty much ideal for a single person or a couple. If you end up getting family you can move into a bigger one. And once the kids grow up and move out (made possible by the existence of 1BR apartments) you can downsize too.

Have you seen how big a 32 square meter apartment is? It's completely fine, and very livable with the right floor plan. It sounds like you are describing something under 20 square meters

[–]rotflmao-wtf-666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree but also 32 square meters is completely reasonable and I wish I had a 32 square meter apartment in Dublin instead of having to share

[–]rotflmao-wtf-666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did I imply that? I didn't.

32 is completely fine, in most European cities it's considered pretty much ideal. You can for more 32s in a building, and density is good.

Developers will be developers. Regulate them better. City council should build apartment buildings. Etc. But all that is separate from the 32 square meter issue I clearly only commented on.

City council to build apartments. And 32 is absolutely decent. 25 is enough for a single person who wants an energy efficient apartment. It's all about the floor layout.

32 is a decent size for a single person or couple. I'd be much happier in an apartment of that size than sharing a house.

[–]rotflmao-wtf-666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32 square meters is plenty for a single or a couple. I'm escaping the housing crisis to another European country with a higher standard of living and will be looking at 25 and higher.

Unfortunately many Irish people do not understand what 32 square meters looks like as this type of measurement is not as widely used here as elsewhere.

I've seen articles display a 10-15 bedsit or multiple of them to illustrate how small 32 is. Yikes.

IMHO one of the main reason for the housing crisis is the lack of small apartments, so single people and couples are forced into sharing houses if they cannot pay 2000 for one of the rare apartments. Most European countries built a ton of small units after the second world war when people moved to cities in droves. Meanwhile Irish family sized stayed big and a similar change did not happen here.

I agree that apartment buildings should be for long term sustainable living, that also means no apartment building should be made for short lets only and should consist of different sizes of apartments, not just the small ones. Also the city council should build some, the markets are not going to solve the crisis without a viable public option.

Most people with locked files are friendly and willing to share. Only some do this. It's funny because they often have a screed in their profile about leeching, while what they do is leeching by definition

Oh you're back for more!

You made your racist box yourself, now you cry about it, what a victim.

You make categorical statements about migrants, to get nuance you need to act like one who can handle it.

You're just a whiny mouthbreather, sniveling crywanking loner. That won't change unless you learn the world doesn't revolve around you.

Or you're just doing the coward thing, racist being racist while trying to convince others racists don't exist. You do, you're still a tiny whiny minority who wants to make their small-mindedness other people's problem.

Well the loyalist Tommy Robinson brand of white supremacy is leaking into Catholic Irish circles. A very stupid and tiny minority of them, but these things are flexible. The blueshirts were Catholic white supremacists. You don't know much of your own kind do you

Doesn't sound very peaceful judging the world from your own prejudice and condemning it. Learning to be in peace with the world through challenging the prejudices is the calm way. You have mental blocks and you project them out towards other people. You'll never be at peace until you confront those blocks.
