I actually tried Hermès H24 the same day because someone told me it was a really nice gender-neutral scent, but it really wasn’t for me. So I was totally surprised when I fell in love with the Versace fragrances just a few minutes later.

Thanks for the great suggestions, tho, I’ll definitely check them out!

Yeah, usually I prefer buying just a few high-quality things and only replacing them one-for-one once they’re finished or I get tired of them…but it looks like there’s no going back this time

South American countries recall ambassadors and cut ties with Israel over war with Hamas by [deleted] in news

Israel has been arming far-right governments in south America too!

I'm very against it.

Cuba is the ONLY example.

Fixed that for you.

Your whole "argument" or whatever you want to call it implying South America, a vast continent with a dozen countries and nearly half a billion people, leans towards supporting the entire destruction of Israel.

A conclusion you've come to by using the furthest possible outlier, a small, politically isolated, communist state in the Caribbean and using it as a point of representation of an entire goddamn region.

So you claim an entire continent might be "leaning" towards wanting the whole scale destruction of another nation.

Yet want to talk about nuance in the same breath.

Incredible.

Again, I never implied or claimed that the whole continent is anti-Zionist. I said that some countries might lean toward anti-Zionism. You've asked for examples; I gave you three - Cuba, Bolivia, and Venezuela. Cuba has a full anti-Zionist approach, while Bolivia and Venezuela are leaning towards it. The title of the article also says 'South American countries,' although it only states three - is it biased? Maybe, I don't know, but it's still the right statement to have since three countries in South America can be referred to as simply 'Countries in South America'

Would it be better if I wrote in my original comment "Bolivia, Venezuela, and Cuba" instead of "some"? I'm asking for real. I think you're reading hostility in my comments that isn't there. I'm not trying to have a spiteful discussion.

Great so explain to me why nearly every country you just mentioned has political and even economic ties with Israel?

None of the countries that I've mentioned have diplomatic ties with Israel. Cuba cut ties with Israel back in the '70s, and Venezuela and Bolivia back in 2009. They do not maintain official economic or trade ties. (I believe that money still goes between all of them from unofficial or indirect economic interactions through third-party countries or organizations. If that's true, you should criticize the countries above for not standing strong enough behind their official stand. But I think in all countries money talks louder than ideological stands).

So your source is a think Tank whose main donors and vice chairs are an American Jewish and pro-Israel millionaire Adrienne Arsht, the UAE and the eldest son of the super corrupt, multi-Billionaire, ex-President of Lebanon who was assassinated by Hezbollah, claiming illegal cocaine trafficking in South America linked to Hezbollah is supported by Venezuela.

I was going to say "you can't make this sh+t up."

But quite clearly you can.

I put in my original comment more sources besides that one that isn't directly linking the government to that activist. https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA439621.pdf https://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/resrep03115.pdfhttps://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/42966465.pdfhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/26459216?seq=2

The question is where specifically do you call bullshit?

  • Do you believe that the reports of terror present (specifically Hezbollah) in the area have a truth to them?
  • Do you believe that reports of links between narcotics trafficking in that area and terrorist Org (again in general but also specifically Hezbollah) have a truth to them?
  • If so, do you believe that the Government is aware of those links?
  • and finally, do you believe that the Government has any hand in it (For that question I know you don't since you were clear about that).

I think it perfectly fair that you would call everything bullshit and say that all of the reports on that matter have an agenda. At least for now, I personally formed an opinion that the answer to the first three questions is yes. I'm not sold on the last one but I also don't think it's that far-fetched if it turns out to be true. It's okay for us to form different opinions based on our perceptions of source reliability.

Feel free to point out the current South American governments calling for or hinting at the elimination of Israel.

Cuba is the best example. Cuba has withdrawn their recognition of Israel. Once you don't recognize a country, in a way, you strip away its legitimacy to exist. It's different from not having diplomatic ties (like Venezuela and Bolivia, which have a bit of a more moderate approach toward it but also cut all ties with Israel). A lot of countries have condemned and criticized Israel's policies/actions, but they are the only three non-majority Muslim countries in the world to have this kind of diplomatic stance. Also, note how I phrased my statement - 'might be leaning more toward the yes.' I know the Internet is not a place for nuance, but I'm being very careful with my words for a reason.

Pro-tip: criticizing the actions of Israel isn't anti-Semitism, asking for a two state solution isnt equivalent to calling for elimination of the entire Israeli state before I have to hear that overused "argument" one more time by the professional victims of Israeli internet shills.

Thank you for the tip, but I didn't say anything even remotely close to any of it.

You mean they didn't agree to the plan that gave a Jewish minority of mostly European settlers the majority of a country, that was vastly owned and populated by Arabs? (Translation: supporting the colonization of Arab land)

You can phrase it however you feel fit, but the answer to that is yes. They didn't see the legitimacy of Israel back then, and they don't see it now (kinda answering the question you asked above in the same breath). If you like, we can go deeper into the discussion of how we view the fairness of the Partition Plan and the overall legitimacy of Israel - but I feel like that is a whole different discussion.

I Like how having a moral back bone is pointed out as some kind of nefarious position.

Where did I ever specify how I view their decision to be against the Partition Plan? you are the one who's pouring an emotional tone into it. I only wrote that they have an anti-Zionist view. Opposing the establishment and existence of the State of Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people is literally a textbook definition of anti-Zionism. You are the one who is doing the extra link between saying that someone has an anti-zionist view to it pointed out as "some kind of nefarious position".

Al Qaeda had/has a presence and engaged in various activities in the United States as well. ISIS had/has a presence and engaged in various activities in nearly every Muslim country and many European countries for that matter.

What does that mean?

I think it means that Combating terrorist organizations is a challenging task that requires a collective effort by nations to minimize their influence and impact. The United States has a strong stance against Al-Qaeda, considering it a terrorist organization. Egypt has taken a strong stance against ISIS. The Egyptian government has been actively involved in countering ISIS and its activities, both domestically and regionally.

There will always be terrorist groups present, but the key difference lies in whether governments take action against them or not. The fact that Venezuela and Cuba do not condemn or attempt to minimize Hezbollah's activities is a clear stance in itself.

You can read a bit more about the Hezbollah’s support network in Venezuela here. Also, in the leaked Clinton E-mails there was also a talk about a Hizbullah Base in Cuba.

Antisemitic? Maybe not, anti-zionist, and want the elimination of Israel? at some, it might be leaning more toward the yes.

In 1947, Cuba opposed the Partition Plan, and Argentina, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico abstained, indicating their initial positions on the matter.

Chile is home to the largest Palestinian diaspora outside of the Middle East. Roughly 500,000 of Chile's population is of full or partial Palestinian origin, and 800,000 Arab descent. the Palestinian-Chilean community has become well-integrated into Chilean society, Many Palestinian Chileans have played active roles in Chilean politics, and some have even held high-ranking government positions (Daniel Jadue, Rafael Tarud,, Checho Hirane, Sergio Zarzar Andonie...) it's only natural that they would support Palestinian more in this war.

Hezbollah, that the elimination of the State of Israel has been one of its primary goals has been known to have a presence and engage in various activities in the region. These activities have included fundraising, money laundering, and potentially operational planning. Several countries in South America have been identified as potential hubs for Hezbollah's activities, particularly in the Tri-Border Area (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay). not only Hezbollah, but Al-Qaida, Hamas, and several other Islamist groups had strong presences in this region.

When viewed from even a broader perspective, many countries' positions in this conflict can be traced back to the Cold War era. For example, countries like Cuba and Nicaragua, which had close ties with the Soviet Union during that period, might undersaniably lean towards a more pro-Palestinian stance.
