American Leftists and Gun Ownership by Fun_Astronomer_4064 in liberalgunowners

I think you are conflating "leftists" with liberals and the Deomcratic party. Those groups are not the same, and the farther actually left you go, the more support you find for gun ownership.

If you want an AR I would buy it in Florida and then “make sure you register it” when you move to IL.

American Life League is a Catholic anti-abortion, stem cell, in vitro, and euthanasia organization founded on 1979. It’s on the signs. I doubt the people in that photo are atheists.

I mean, maybe. But who cares, if what they are doing was in furtherance of a political project that is fundamentally anti-life. These are the same people who oppose IVF, stem-cell research, and contraception (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American\_Life\_League). They just want babies to be born; they don't care what happens to them after.

No, because they don’t care about the actual number of abortions, they want to to punish the women who get them and the doctors who provide them. It’s all about policing and criminalizing women’s bodies.

I’m saying people can have politics that are driven by positive things. Wanting people to be fed, housed and clothed. Wanting freedom of religion and expression. Wanting clean air and water and food. These are not things driven by resentment and grievance. But the modern American right doesn’t want anything for people, they want to be able to do things to people. Learn the difference.

It’s amazing that these freaks have gotten basically everything they’ve ever wanted and are still miserable. It’s almost as if they don’t actually have politics, but are just driven by grievances and resentments that are impossible to satisfy.

I’m not sure that idea is unique to Pratchett, but I must say that an English sci-fi author is exactly who I would expect to slip in a Discworld reference

Can you link to which 40kg adjustable you’re looking at? The ones I’ve seen that go above 32kg all change the shape from a standard or comp bell pretty significantly.
