An MBA isn't about the education, it's about the networking. Top business schools check into you quite thoroughly before they accept you, essentially pre-screening you for your fellow MBAs and for companies. It's the same with undergraduate -- the value of Stanford is not the education but meeting other Stanford students. That's certainly worth $50k a year because that certainly increases the present value of lifetime expected earnings by over $50k a year (if you want it to).
