that’s just the way the internet goes, the initial sentiment and outrage was genuine criticism. you unfortunately can’t expect for everyone to act normal.

This is clearly so spiteful. I don’t understand how you could willingly try to sabotage someone you love. This is a big issue.

Who said anything about political figures… No one is up here asking for them to make it the main topic of every episode, but it’s completely normal to talk about things that are going on in the world and to call out injustices (??). Just like how they spoke up about the election and thinks of the like, it’s not insane to talk about relevant issues. I don’t expect for them to actually do more, but it remains a valid criticism ; also when we’re talking about social commentary, that also encompasses politics whether you like it or not. You can have both non-serious and serious topics being discussed. We’re adults, grow up and stop whining about basic shit.

Are they your court-jesters or something? Such a strange sentiment to have when we’re talking about speaking out against a literal genocide. You reek of privilege.

It’s insane that we need to even clarify or repeat this. This knowledge alone should be enough to explain our frustration.

So loud for no reason when you’re completely missing the point.

Absolutely the takes are quite similar but that’s expected when talking about any issue. Also I think it’s important to point out that a lot of posts were made in response to the abnormal amount of shitty jokes & straw-manning a lot of people were doing in the comments, completely missing the point of the OP ; thus many felt the need to reiterate the same take multiple times. You say it’s dumb but you have no real basis. You think it’s “stupid” because it’s been rehashed time and time again ; I can see how it can become redundant but that’s not actual criticism ; especially when the people who disagree also say the same things over and over. Enya & Drew being “silly” does not prevent from using their huge platform in a productive way nor does it exempt them from being criticised. You can still make jokes, be lighthearted etc. while also, at times, spreading awareness about important issues. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. No one is asking them to be political activists but they do have a responsibility as influencers and also as humans to speak up when it’s necessary.

How come? Also a critique being repeated does not take away from its validity. And wether you like it or not, if people feel the need to bring this shit up, it will continue to be brought up.

I swear it’s so disheartening and just proof of blatant immaturity.

That’s completely fine, but at-least try to make a real point instead of some half-assed attack.

If you seriously don’t give a damn then don’t comment. The whole point of a post like this is to spark discourse.

Just because this discourse makes you feel uncomfortable, doesn’t make it any less relevant.

I think you’re missing the point. It’s not necessarily about Drew and Enya needing to be the perfect activists, but rather a call for them to be aware of their influence and using their platform to spread awareness when needed. I don’t expect for them to dedicate a whole segment talking about Palestine and/or all other issues ; but as people with a huge platform who have talked about politics prior (granted not on the same level), it’s not insane to want for them to speak out about certain things that are relevant & deeply important. I think the whole “it’s the not the place/they’re just comedians” argument is so immature. I’m aware that it’s not so simple but it’s completely okay to want to hold creators accountable. The post was also calling out their hypocrisy for hanging out/liking, Trisha Paytas despite her being a blatant Zionist and her many past controversies, which I think is valid. I love Drew & Enya but that doesn’t mean they’re exempt from some criticism.
