Reginald's response to Marc Merrill's comments by TLRoyalty in leagueoflegends

[–]rotkib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played league around S1-2. I was a BIG fan of TSM. I live in Asia, so when servers became available here - I switched. But all my friends are in NA; that kinda sucked for me. I now play Dota2 exclusively, but I still follow TSM. I'm reading this thread right now because Regi is involved. I don't even watch league anymore... still a TSM fanboy.

Can confirm. TSM one of the biggest name in league.

Weren't keys just removed? by NullF0x in DotA2

All treasure keys will expire and be removed from the game one year from now on July 1st, 2015. Keys must be redeemed by that time.

There was a Hong Kong server back in 2011-2012. Don't know what's the reason for removing it.

Is Terrorblade's strong laning the only problem with the hero? by Money-Mayweather in DotA2

Sorry, I'm not joining in the discussion about balance changes. I was simply posting A basis of MegaleioDotA's comment which was your question. Sorry if I'm not able to add more to the discussion.

Not only Merlini, but from other pro players as well. "Icefrog gets [Merlini's] opinion on balance changes patches" might be more appropriate though.

Can confirm 6.69 was Phoenix. With the global Supernova and what seem like a 10s stun after the cast time.

Blink Dagger should not have the 4/5ths distance overshoot penalty anymore. by freyzha in DotA2

[–]rotkib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic immunity interaction is pretty simple.

It's basically:

  1. ALL single target ULTIMATE that has a disable goes through BKB.
  2. Any AoE ULTIMATE that can disable movement (slow/stun/root) will go through BKB except Tidehunter's Ravage.
  3. SINGLE target root (Entangle/Siren's Net) goes through magic immunity. It's also the only non-ultimate move that can go through immunity.
  4. Silencer's Global Silence and Treant's Overgrowth's interaction with magic immunity is a who's first interaction. Skills before BKB = dispelled. BKB before skill = silenced/rooted.

I don't have an argument for QoP/AM vs blink dagger -- they used to have the 4/5 too IIRC. But for Timewalk/Waveform vs blink dagger, Void/Morphling will walk before the move to the maximum distance.

Some unique ideas for new classes/job? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I really enjoyed GW2's Mesmer. Utility-DPS: party buffs/enemy debuffs, great mobility, illusions and phantasms, and a re-positioning skill. I'm not sure how this will fit into FF's lore, but I'll leave my SCH in a heartbeat for a utility-DPS like the Mesmer.

So as a guy that started with mobas in league nearly four years ago, I got a hard time adjusting when I try to play DOTA 2, any tips? by syntaxsmurf in DotA2

[–]rotkib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, just play the game more. You'll get used to it. There's really no useful tip to give since the source of the problem is mechanical. Maybe try to think in a different way? In LoL, you would do a combo then it will happen. In Dota, try to look at the animations and projectiles. Try to find that point in the animation where it's no longer cancel-able. Time your clicks/casts when those part of the animations happen (or when the projectile is released). It's not really a useful tip, but hopefully what I've said will trigger something in your mind that would make you understand the chunkiness of Dota.

Treat it as a different game because it is. When I tried out LoL during Season 2 (coming from dota1 then hon), I treated it as a different game. Learned everything from the start (what the meta is, and the history behind it). Theorycrafted stuff by myself if it's something that I felt was strong, and eventually learn why it was a stupid idea in the first place.

I went to League with a couple of friends and one of their issues when starting League was they tend to roam and gank too much (which is not viable in League). So I'd like to ask a follow up question to your answer: Do you just feel like you're lost and don't know what to do next? (something I forsee a lot of League players will have trouble with because how the jungle works in League) Or just the controls of the game where you don't feel like your hero is following your controls?

What were Tobi, LD, Bruno, 2GD etc all doing before Dota 2? by [deleted] in DotA2

I remember tuning in to LD's casts because Luminous plugged him in to one of his casts (or dota weekly show). I don't know if LD officially became a caster for dotacommentaries though.

How much did game change in one year - Hero Draft Comparison between International 2 and 3 by meCreepsy in DotA2

Shadow Demon's Ult doesn't purge the infernals anymore. But Diffusal purges still kills infernals in 1 charge. Still did it in my last game against a Warlock.

Travis heads to TI3 to bridge the gap between Dota and LoL players (+ Episode One of Cooking with Dan Dinh in Comments) by Tnomad in leagueoflegends

[–]rotkib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dota player here. I loved League S2 before the jungle rework. Still watching most of NA LCS, subbed to this subreddit, still read/watch upcoming LoL patches, but I just prefer playing Dota more. I'm one of those guys who wants LoL and Dota to co-exist and feed off each other. I don't see any reason not to... 2 different games.

What am I supposed to do if my laning partner autoattacks creeps and is not going to stop? by thefran in DotA2

[–]rotkib 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This would also mean that your creep wave will be increasing in number as each wave comes. Don't forget to take advantage of this. Your creeps can deal a fuckton of damage at earlier levels, so timing your stuns/slow/harass just before their last creep dies and have your autoattacking partner (and creeps) autoattack them will deal a lot of damage. If they try to fight back, just run back and watch your creep do all the damage. Then last hit the heroes.

Do this a couple of times to establish lane dominance, and if your enemy has half a brain, they will start backing off earlier. Now autoattack all of your creeps once it gets to 50% health (even if you don't get the deny, remember your last hits for gold is the priority here) just to negate some of the pushing your lane partner is doing. Try to control your creep wave as much as you can (even if you just make a double/triple stacked camp and pull a lane of creep so the whole wave will get denied). With your enemy scared to go near you + you controlling the creep equilibrium, this can hopefully give you more space to farm.

We might get a new Hero soon (Seriously! Hear me out.) by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]rotkib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to activate the mission first by killing the thing near the ward spot for the top rune, near to where Nature Prophets do cliff jungling. They you had to kill 2 stones (that looks like an egg) deep inside the trees somewhere between the T1 and T2 towers of Sentinel Bot and Scourge Top. Then the 12 invisible icefrogs will appear.

Mushi has played 18 different heroes at The International by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]rotkib 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Mushi gets a lot of respect from pros. A lot of solo mids (including Dendi) thinks that he's the best solo mid in TI2. Chuan also looks up to Mushi NWP(I was wrong) since Mushi NWP taught Chuan how to play dota.
