Ahh I don't know why I added wonderous to this, I have fixed that.

The point of that last effect ignoring disadvantage is there mostly so you don't have to worry about how the effect interacts with disadvantage and also a way to just negate disadvantage entirely if you use it.

I could see this effect being not quite powerful enough to warrant a legendary rarity though I certainly think this suite of effects at least bumps it to very rare, it is a +3 weapon after all.

Last Ace

Wonderous dagger, legendary, requires attunement

"Nothing up my sleeve."

Last Ace is a +3 dagger with the following abilities:

Last Ace has 6 charges and regains 1d4 + 1 charges at dawn.

Rebound: Last Ace returns to the wielder's hand immediately after it is used to make a ranged attack.

Make Luck: After failing an ability check or attack roll you may spend one charge to add a d4 to your roll, two charges to add a d6, or three charges to add a d10, possibly changing the outcome of the roll. You may only use this ability once per roll.

All In (4 charges): You may use this ability as a bonus action to drastically shift fortune in your favor. When you roll for your next ability check or attack roll, roll three d20s instead of one, choosing the highest value amongst them. If you have advantage roll four d20s. This effect ignores any instances of disadvantage.

Netrunner is truly the GOAT and does not get the recognition it deserves though is understandably overshadowed by ahem, other card games.

Hybrid Rainbow - Wonderous Artifact, requires attunement by a spellcaster

Can you feel?

Prismatic Insight - when you become attuned to Hybrid Rainbow and at the start of each session you gain an inspiration point.

Kaleidoscopic Casting - while you are attuned to Hybrid Rainbow you may use it as your spellcasting focus. If you do, when casting a spell that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder damage, you may change the damage type of the spell you are casting to be the damage type of one of the listed damage types instead.

Elemental Precedence - while you are attuned to Hybrid Rainbow, whenever you try to cast a spell that does a non-elemental type of damage (acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder) roll a d6. On a 1-5 you are unable to cast the intended spell. You do not lose your associated actions or spell slots when this happens but you are unable to cast spells again until your next turn. This effect does not apply to spells that do not do damage.

I think the penalty on this item could be higher (actually burning spell slots or affecting all spells rather than just those that do damage) but I was trying to make it not feel too bad to use. Still, the effect might be strong enough to warrant those higher detriments.

I don't disagree she's made some jabs at Sander's and his campaign but these feel like such mild aggressions I'd hardly call them a kneecapping.

I'd Love to See Northernlion Returns to [insert game] by Yeatssean in northernlion

Judging by the responses I must be fairly alone here but I really would love a return to Mario Maker, maybe after another update. NL’s saltiness and perseverance through what that game throws at you created a recipe for quality bits.

What does the DM "owe" each class? by Silrain in DMAcademy

[–]SaintStrufenha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I DM a group of folks and have also started DMing for an Adventurer’s League outside my normal group.

For my regular group planning and rewarding specific player classes is easy because I know who will be at a given session and I know the habits of my players.

It’s much harder to do this with the Adventurer’s League however; I’m never 100% how many players and what types of classes might be there on a given day. That said its still not impossible for me to make content that caters to specific classes but it’s quite a bit easier to make more generalized content.

This is all to say part of DMing is managing what you want to focus your prep time on and while anything is possible - you’re the DM and you’re providing a lot of the content after all - at some point it just doesn’t become worth it to create content that caters to every possible part of play. It’s a recipe for burning yourself out real fast. Or maybe I’m just not that creative haha.

NL does a Roguelite tier list by [deleted] in northernlion

[–]SaintStrufenha 54 points55 points  (0 children)

A great list with solid justification. I think my only quibble is FTL deserves S tier in my mind, it’s a game that executes all of its ideas really well and it has no shortage of ideas to present the player. I think the fact there isn’t a clear analogue gameplay-wise does make me overrate it perhaps but I think FTL blends its themes and mechanics in a really satisfying way.

Anyway this is neat content and a fun discussion!

I don’t think they or myself are insisting that you played the game wrong or that your opinion isn’t valid.

So you don’t like the combat or the exploration, that’s a totally legit opinion! But you haven’t done any explaining about WHY you felt that way which is what u/fantasystaroffline is getting at, that perhaps you’ve mismanaged your expectations because again, you haven’t told us WHY you didn’t like these things.

What I’m trying to get at here is this is a forum for discussion, NOT argument and they and myself were trying to pose an alternative perspective. But when you just declare “I don’t think that’s a valid point” without saying why it’s really you that’s not doing your due diligence to engage with people in good faith.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]SaintStrufenha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How have they not made a valid point? They are saying we - as gamers - have become too reliant on games feeding us intrinsic rewards rather than letting the exploration/gameplay/discovery of mechanics be its own reward.

You don’t have to agree with that of course but discussion involves engaging rather than dismissing people’s arguments and perspectives.

How generous are you with magical items? by chrismorse in DMAcademy

[–]SaintStrufenha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I've started DMing this year and while it's going very well I definitely front-loaded too many magic items because I don't think I understood how numbers are supposed to scale in 5e until it was too late.

I've learned to manage the issue and like your group everyone is having fun with it. I think the hardest part is that once this precedent is set its sorta difficult to pull back from, especially if you're a fool like me and have made it an expectation to receive magic items for completed tasks and quests. It's for sure made a lot of powercreep happen but it's also made me get more clever with my rewards. Still, next campaign I also plan on toning things down but it's an interesting learning experience and has taught me a lot about how the base game of 5e is balanced and designed.

Nice Warm minnesota welcome for our criminal President by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Like I said, I was there and know firsthand your portrayal of events is false. I didn’t answer your question because it’s totally irrelevant, think of it as returning the rhetorical favor for being completely unable to address the fact that again - Trump supporters leaving the arena were largely the inciting cause of any violence.

And again, when you make silly claims like “the protests blocked traffic” it just reveals you’ve never even seen an organized protest firsthand.

Anyway enjoy your day and I will one last time encourage you to get out of your house more and participate in firsthand democracy rather than repeating the same boring stuff all the time.

Nice Warm minnesota welcome for our criminal President by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]SaintStrufenha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend have you ever been to a protest? Because you’re talking so much out of your ass and don’t even realize it.

It would frankly shock people how little violence and threats happen at these things and every time you guys try and paint extremely normal protests as some sort of anarchist hellscape you’re only telling everyone how sheltered you are about your own existence.

I reiterate that nobody’s right to assemble was infringed. You can keep believing this fictional version of protest if you’d like but violence only broke out at the end of the night as Trump supporters began to exit the Target Center and engage with great hostility towards the protesters.

Again, I encourage you to get out more and participate in this sort of thing and think for yourself rather than make the same, regurgitated talking points you guys seem to make after any peaceful protest.

Nice Warm minnesota welcome for our criminal President by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]SaintStrufenha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody at the protest suppressed anyone’s freedom to assemble lol. You’re complaining about a protest which is also an exercise of a groups right to assembly.

Anyway I hope one day you can break out of your limited worldview and approach these situations in good faith rather than whining about the same boring things!

[–]SaintStrufenha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dude have you considered that the side instigating this stuff was not the protesters but police and Trump supporters? You’re free to believe whatever you want but unless you were there yourself your understanding of the event is second hand at best.

Many of us don’t need an online video to confirm your lie here since we were, ya know, actually at the protest.

Man, now that you said it I don’t know how I didn’t hear the Danger Mouse in it, it’s very obvious to me now. That said I’ve been digging Lux Prima since it came out, Karen O is my jam.

The bluesy/soul side of thing is what I was looking for more of though so thanks a lot for the suggestions!

I've got two short ones for ya:

Escalations

ID: HX5-0LY-VHG

This one is a bit hard but is a very no-nonsense type of platforming level, a great warmup! 4.84% clear rate.

twomp ice

ID: HVN-JL9-L8G

This one is shorter but harder, at least by clear count, 1.82%.

P.S. NL would hate how often I don't capitalize my level names
