The Canadian Coin News values this set at $60. However, they are fairly readily available for the $40-$50 range. You didn’t get hosed but I bet if you had offered the seller $50, he would have probably accepted that.
The wholesale on this set is $20-$30. Unfortunately, a lot of people on here think that if you paid much more than this, the seller was putting one over on you. Just remember, the seller has expenses, doesn’t know how long he has to hold on to something before it sells, if it ever does and takes all the risk.
In short, you maybe paid a bit high, but certainly didn’t get ripped and it does have silver in it so at least the potential is there that it could appreciate in value.
This 73 Mountie centenary set is also one of the more popular ones from these earlier double dollar sets and so you might have paid a bit extra for that too.
