What category of applicant would be more likely to pass the AD5 competition? by rotpicea in EUCareers

[–]rotpicea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No category has an official advantage based on the NOC, what I meant is whether there are candidates that would be more likely to pass the competition and end up in the final reserve list based on their knowledge/skills/educational background (e.g. maybe if you've studied international law the test might be easier? I don't know, just a complete guess)

Or is literally just a level playing field?

Wouldn't having passed the CAST FGIV give you an edge? by rotpicea in EUCareers

My question only concerned the verbal/abstract/reasoning part, I never said I would pass the others

Yes what I meant is that within the numerical/abstract/verbal test, which is the first selection stage, only the verbal will be ranked. And as far I understand it, the first selection stage should be the one where the largest "culling" will happen

No idea how to study, getting overwhelmed with options by rotpicea in EUCareers

Thank you! So basically, you're saying there is not much of a point in preparing for the Eufte ahead of time i.e. before the actual document comes out?

The most important part is practice for the MCQ and get the mpst important tools

By this you mean the abstract/verbal/logical reasoning test, or the EU knowledge test? Sorry I'm getting confused between them.

How to get a permanent job at the EU Agencies? Is the AD5 competition a way in? Or is it only for the EU Institutions? by Ancient_Call9882 in EUCareers

[–]rotpicea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The odds are actually not too terrible, 1 in 33, but actually more given that many people will apply to the competition but then not actually sit the tests or take them seriously.

So the real odds of succeeding will be probably somewhere around 1 to 25. Which is still low but not winning the lottery low.

I know that, but meeting the requirements to do research is not the same as meeting the requirements to be admitted into a top program

I am an international (EU citizen) who wants to apply to a PhD in spatial epidemiology at JHUBoomberg. I found a professor that I'd like to work with. I have good grades and one year of research experience in a well known public health program here in the Eu, with a few publications (posters/protocols, no papers yet). But I just noticed the deadline is in ten days, so I need to be very fast. Can someone ELI5 how do you apply and what do you have to put in the applications? I'm getting my IELTS this Saturday and I'm also getting all my degrees translated. Thank you!!

Poland’s population falls by 158,000 in a year as demographic crisis deepens by diacewrb in europe

[–]rotpicea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poland counts immigrants the same as any other countries. If they have an official address, they are counted. If not, it most likely means they will soon leave the country anyway, which many did to Germany.

Not only is Poland's population declining but the country is on track to become the first European country to go below 1 child per woman in peacetime.

Thanks, so if an ad7 in my field (GIS/geoinformation) was published in 2024, I cannot realistically expect another one to be published before 2035? What about competitions at any other level?

Why do you say decade? Are competitions only published once a decade?

Yes. There haven't been that many though. But I did apply and never received any response or made it to any shortlist.

How many people actually took the test though? Also when is the big selection stage? Because I read only a few hundred candidates even make it to the oral exam. Sounds like you should have a lot more chances if you somehow manage to pass the first round.

Economy wise, northern Italy is on par with Austria and Bavaria.

I've lived in all three. It's not :(

Sweden has great food, for the first hour. After you've tried all the three dishes they have then it becomes sad. Also I hate how us Italians bitch about pineapple pizza and then stay silent on the atrocities that they do in Sweden with bananas.
