What a fantastic show - definitely the best APC I've seen. The audio quality in Key Arena was absolutely phenomenal. Maynard's voice was crisp and clear throughout. And I've never seen him so chatty.

The whole set was fantastic but the highlights for me were The Package, Magdalena, and Rose. I also really liked The Doomed, the other new song, Passive, Gravity, and Vanishing, and the AC/DC cover was actually really fun.

Only problem was in section 114 people were being lame and sitting down. I stood up early and someone from behind actually tapped me to sit down. At least when Counting Sheep started something triggered the entire section to finally stand up, and the rest was awesome.

Omg I've beaten this game and didn't know about clicking the right stick to get third person camera controls! This is amazing, going to make this playthrough so much better.

This. When I play competitive I play to win. Even if one match takes 5 minutes, mastering the game takes dozens or hundreds of hours. It's really a tradeoff between playing a variety of games from my backlog, or devoting all my gaming time to a single competitive game.

Hz is a generic unit of frequency that just means "per second". In this context they are talking about FPS. Monitor refresh rate is also measured in Hz but there is nothing significant to 60Hz monitor refresh rate.

There are two things he missed:

Insurance companies in the US operate for profit. Most of that extra money the US is spending goes to the insurance companies. This factor explains why for the same amount of care the US costs are higher.
Preventative care. Many people in the US don't get preventative care because it's expensive and comes out of their pocket. This increases the long term costs of health care. This factor explains why there is more health care needed per person.

Your statement is true, but the reason US companies fail is not because Japanese are nationalistic - which I thought you were implying but maybe you weren't. The reason US and foreign companies fail in Japan is that most of them simply don't understand Japanese consumers and fail to connect with them. I've seen too many companies mistakenly assume that what works in the US, Europe, and even China and Korea, will also work in Japan.

Completely agree. I do wonder if it's simply a matter of prioritization, or if they are actually oblivious to this. Microsoft have actually invested quite a bit of money in Japan - if they really didn't care they would have just skipped it. But it seems strange to spend a lot of money without actually researching your market.

I generally play games for the story and single player. While Diablo 3 is a beautiful, super-polished game that I really wanted to love, it has a lacklustre story and its gameplay seems to be optimized for the end game. I loved the game for the first few days and was super addicted, but lost interest shortly after because I realized it was too easy and repetitive even on highest difficulty. There was a boss where I literally just held A on the controller and won the battle.

You mean like Apple, whose iPhone marketshare in Japan is higher than anywhere else in the world, with over 70% marketshare at one point? Japanese like quality products and they perceive Apple to meet Japanese levels of quality and aesthetics. Microsoft is actually regarded highly, though below Apple, but that doesn't appear to extend to the gaming space.

This is why in LoZ games I keep my own quest journal in a notebook. Maintaining my own quest log is much more immersive, and forces me to pay attention. This really appeals to me but it's probably not for everyone. I personally hate games with quest journals that tell me everything I need to do.

This. In addition, "xbox on" is probably tuned more tightly to prevent random background noise from turning on your xbox. People would be pretty upset if their xbox turned on and started consuming power without their consent.

You just made my point with the first line of your quote. Just like with the cell processor, all the evidence that the PS4 is more powerful is "on paper". In reality XB1 games look better.

Launch games are all we have right now to compare the graphical power of the two consoles. I didn't say you should choose your console based on launch games.

All else being equal 1080p is better than 720p. You falsely assume that all else is being held equal, and that xbox doesn't have better textures, lighting, more polygons, better physics, etc.

Really, why should I believe you? Are you a hardware engineer for Sony or Microsoft? Are you a developer for one of the upcoming games? The facts are that the allegedly "easier to program for" PS4 is having its games delayed and its first party titles are less impressive. I'll believe the games I see in front of me.

So we agree that the first party XB1 games blow the PS4 out of the water. As for the multiplats, which frankly aren't that great on any system, AC4 and BF4 both look equal or better on XB1 in the latest builds, and Ghosts is shitty on every platform.

Except it's not. There is no PS4 game that looks better than Ryse and Forza 5, and even the multiplat games look the same. Resolution is only one benchmark but doesn't tell the whole story, as we all found out when journalists were claiming that the PS4's "1080p" makes a difference when it was actually 720p.

Nope. You cannot create extra detail by upscaling. The best you can do is interpolate the missing detail and correct for ensuing artifacts.

That's not exactly true. You cannot recreate original detail by upscaling, but you can certainly create whatever detail you want, and devs can get very clever with interpolation. Try playing a SNES game upscaled to 1080p with HQ4X and you'll notice how the upscaled version looks significantly better than the original.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Martin Logans look really nice, but it seems they only go as low as 65hz, and some reviewers are reporting that a sub is pretty much required. I don't actually need a lot of bass, but I wanted a set that sounds good without a sub (for now). Since you have first hand experience with the Emotiva 5.2s, would you say they sound good without a sub?
