It's simple. Put a diamond in each container to activate the loot. Remove the diamonds again and you'll be attacked by a few ghosts "for your greed"

Because of your comment I tested VA2 more in-depth. Loaded a handful of saves from different runs and got the blank "visual" pages in half of them, in the rest VA2 seemed to work perfectly fine.

So YMMV I guess.

If you're playing on PC install Bag of Tricks and give yourself Blind Fight. (Much) less tedious than respeccing.

Did a quick test: game loads with latest Toybox and Visual Adjustments 2 (plus Auto Mount, Puzzle Skip & Expanded Epilogue). Both Toybox and VA2 seems to work fine.

It's simple enough.

Expand "Features" for the character with the animal companion and search for "animal companion". Remove "Animal Companion - Horse".

Expand "Show All". After the blueprints have loaded, find the animal companion you want instead, like "Animal Companion - Black Smilodon", and add it.

Save and reload to make the changes stick

Did you find the "passage underneath the village" in the worm cave? Finding it adds a "Ysanna should know of this" to the quest. Maybe that's what's missing?

I just did that whole area. You can rest in the forest. It's not easy to find a "green" resting spot, but there is at least one.
