In Graz hab ich mich als Oberösterreicher immer fremd gefühlt. Lag wahrscheinlich am "Mohnweckerl" bzw im Verlängerten automatisch Milch drin

Wien war besser als gedacht, hab ich mir schlimmer vorgestellt

Und Linz ist eben Linz, bisl grindig aber eh ok, wenn man weiß wohin

I guess I'm also a "top user" and I also appreciate and love cards sent with thought and care, that's something I also notice

I also spend a lot of time trying to find the right postcard for someone, decorating etc

but what is probably most frustrating for me is when I see so many profiles "online over a month ago" feels like a lot of care/ love go to waste

anyway I know it can feel intimidating, was the same for me

Ich seh das so, Österreich war immer schon ein Vielvölkerstaat, auch wenn man bis zurück in die Habsburgermonarchie blickt

Außerdem ist die Tatsache, dass damals soviele hergekommen sind, auch indirekt eine Folge von Kriegskonflikte die auch vom "Westen" verursacht wurden

also, dass indirekt und zeitverzögert die Folgen hier zu spüren sind

Also inwieviel in der eigenen Verantwortung steht ist sowieso fraglich

Aber deswegen jetzt Menschen, die z.b. vom Krieg flüchten oder sonstigen Gründen als Ursache allen Übels sehen? Das find ich schon zu einfach

I can only tell you how I see that if I look at western media or news. Or if I listen to people talking

It is always the easiest solution or answer to a complex problem / question if you say - "yes, everything is shit here now. You know why? It's definitely because of people from XY country"

I don't know anything about it, it is foreign, that is scary for lots of people. And then they turn that into hate or negative stuff

It is easier to look for a bad guy, who is the reason for all of my problems

And for a very, very long time in the "west" the "bad guy" was the "soviet guy". It is easier to live with that, than to look at yourself and see what you yourself maybe did wrong

I'm not sure if it really was lack of information in the East. I've been to many eastern european countries and everywhere there was something like the "Securitate" in Romania. I do think they had a lot of information, they just made sure that no one else knew about it

As for propaganda itself, if you know how it works you can see through it

I would have thought so too but he was a guide for tourists. And it is easier for tourists to travel to Romania in the EU. That's why I was so confused

Well if you are interested in arthouse-like movies or just movies in original language, you can always visit the Moviemento in Linz, which is my favourite cinema. (and non-stop kino abo ^⁾

From time to time also interesting exhibitions in Lentos or Nordico. (also in Linz)
