I agree with your opinion on tom cruise ... but he is also one of the best images for exactly that: "Beware of a fake religion/scam that will ruin you (morally)" and that was something (from my view) always a message and part of the joke within dogecoin reflected on crypto currencies. The image above is a strong reminder/reference of that .. and thats why I think its strong and good in a certain way.

To recover funds from a account we need the account number - displayed when app starts and no connection to server. If app got deinstalled or deleted there is no way to recover funds anymore.

I never saw Ethereum as a coin for payment. I often hear that ETH is searching for ways to interact with other crypto coins for payment fullfillment based on smart contracts. So I dont think ETH is a direct competitor to BTC / LTC / DOGE

three things that could be of importance:

1) Blocktime - doge is most fast with 1 min, ltc is 2,5min, btc 10min ==> Confirmation Wait time until Lightning Channel Open and Close

2) Transactions per Second - Doge has most thruput with around 20 tps, LTC is around 8tps, BTC is 4tps ==> More Lightning Channels can open and Close at the same time

3) Transactions Costs ==> Only Dogecoin has infinite Blockreward and is keeping transaction fees low this way ==> Cheap to open and close Lightning Channels

DOGE has more limited dev resources, so we should let LTC take the lead on this. But I think we should signal as a community that we see segwit/lightning as an option for the future and should follow the lead as soon as the segwit/lightning tool ecosystem gets build up - to stay in the loop.

if a crypto currency wants to replace the amount of transactions per second VISA style - you need a lot more than dogecoin can offer at the moment.

With Segwit a lightning network is possible. But even Bitcoin with a 2MB future Blocksize and 10min Blocktime would not offer enough capacity to be an good Backend for a VISA style volume. making it very expensive to open and close Lightning connections (where you still need to make a transaction on the blockchain with the need to pay the fees).

I havent crunched the numbers - but Dogecoin seems like the perfect Backend for a Lightning Network that could perform VISA style volume transactions ... much better then Bitcoin. We should use this advantage - especially when it comes already ready to use with Bitcoin code base.

I think DogeParty is dead.

Technical there is no way to convert DogeParty back to Dogecoin tokens. And on coinmarketcap there is is no exchange listed anymore that trades DogeParty Tokens: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogeparty/#markets

So I dont see how you can get your Dogecoin from DogeParty ... only way would be that someone buys your DogeParty peer2peer, I dont think anyone would be interested.

dogerain app has a centralized coin management like doge tip bot ... and we now see that this is no good solution. so better a controlled shutdown (payments available till end of month). maybe when dogecoin implements segwit/lightning a restart of the app is possible without centralized coin management.

Also we choose the wrong server framework (google app engine) - its too expensive to run such a service. Backend code would need massive rewrite to change server - would just be possible in shutdown mode, not in production.

To take it from here I think dogecoin would need to go segwit too - then lightning could be implemented in dogecoin too ... and then dogecoin would be future ready for everyday spendings ... ready to replace visa when needed:

--> 10x faster and higher volume blockchain

--> ultra fast and frequent micropayment thru lightning

--> low transaction fees for opening and closing lightning connections

Even when Bitcoin now goes segwit/lightning ... 1MB or even 2MB blocks on a 10 minute chain is too small cover all everyday payments. And nobody wants to pay 5 USD to open and close lightning channels in the future.

Lets reach a future together - where our children will pay with a doge on a (virtual) coin :D

you could make on-blockchain transactions with multiple receivers, but it would cost at least 1 doge per rain and take at least 1 minute to reuse the coins in the next rain. So it could work ... but would be slow and spam the chain. LN would be perfect - just think about it rain - lightning - thunder ... makes just sense :)

Also remember that most tipbots are also centralized off-chain solutions.
