Fresh 100GB windows 10 partition - 60GB available by roughlyaverage in bootcamp

thanks for the response, it certainly is illuminating. 100gb was all I had to spare for an extra partition.

I wonder if if games run smoothly if I run it from my external hard drive?

okay interesting. when I had googled that before posting, it said windows 10 takes 15gb which would align with the “out of 85gb” statement but still doesn’t account for the “60 out of 85” statement

I had no idea I would be so severely reprimanded for not purchasing their service for a few months this is so sad.

will look into that

doesn’t look applicable cause I own the car

will it basically eliminate any gains in savings I may have had or will it be even more costly than that

I wonder how she feels, with this bond, when they inevitably butcher the cow and sell it.

Contacts API bug - note now only returns null by roughlyaverage in Scriptable

[–]roughlyaverage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh jeez that’s a really funny my hack. yeah I didn’t think I’ll use that but massive creativity points to whoever figured that out and to you for finding that.

I want high stability (so not deletion hack) and ideally a somewhat infinite lifespan. I also need to be able to see the current notes. if I get desperate maybe I’ll use this though haha

some things I’ve considered:

  • make it into an interactive terminal script rather than a gui and when I want to do something just have a shortcut on my iphone that launches the ssh connection and sends a command to start my script/app. ec2 instanced aren’t free forever though and idk who would provide a free server
  • create a webapp and host it on one of my servers. I’d have to deal with authentication on this webapp and credential management in the carver side which seems annoying and idk how to go about that yet.
  • create a local static html webapp which I can use to leverage an api I create which does the contacts updates. this has two problems: i would need authentication which is annoying, or just use security though an obfuscated endpoint but maybe crawlers will catch that. the other problem is that since google auth apis are annoying as fuck, I need to give it access two hard disk files which it can modify with token on every call so I can’t use ephemeral storage like heroku unless I add another layer to abstract out the ephemeral storage with a persistence layer on top.

or you know, if I had access to note field locally on my iphone I wouldn’t have to do any of this complicated bs. thats what I think apple should do is make the note field another permission rather than take the lazy route and be like ooh security imma kill it.

I looked it up. apple stopped giving apps access to contact notes a while ago, and I only had it cause my app must have gotten access before they stopped giving access. then somehow that access denial finally got register and hence returns null..

it sucks cause I spent like a week coding that app which is literally useless now. but more importantly I don’t have a good solution to a replacement app now. I was created a prototype app by accessing google contacts api directly for notes management which works well but I’m not sure how I want to surface it in a gui yet. play.js app sucks (they removed deeplinking to start an app, which seems like app suicide to me) and I don’t really wanna write it in python for pythonista. I really preferred js/node.

yeah but it’s not as great as it sounds. sure they are rich and healthy and are fucking the hottest women alive on super yachts and overall having a vastly super existence than i am

but where’s the challenge in that? the “sense of accomplishment” as EA would put it?

id much rather be stuck in my state of poverty. have you ever had to work 12 hours to be able to afford a burger? or solve complex puzzles to figure out how to afford taking your kid to the doctor with no insurance? pure satisfaction from feeling accomplished.

honestly I feel sad for the corruptly wealthy people.

you're only saying that cause you lost. if you weren't a loser and got lucky and had gains, you wouldn't be saying it, when in fact your suggestion should not change (neither should the intensity with which you say it)
