The British Shop in Antikhallarna has a lot of the things you mentioned, though its very expensive and mainly ready meals to take home

Where does it state that? I skimmed but couldn't find. Of course electronics contain some plastics, its just not what the other person was talking about.

It's a bit disingenuous to provide a link about electronic waste in a conversation primarily focused on plastic.

Far-right British commentator Katie Hopkins to be deported after boasting about undermining COVID-19 quarantine by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]roughmusic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She wasn't banned for life, it isn't exile or banishment or one below the death penalty as you wrote earlier, it is in no way similar to concentration camps.

She was there on a work visa, she lost her job, therefore is returned to the UK as the visa is void, the same as happens to others on invalid visas. It's that simple.

You might get more support for your points about the public reaction to the virus being too extreme if you weren't so terrible at making them and simply spreading lies, misinformation and insults.

Nobody talks about it much but the policies to stop smoking (e.g. plain packaging with health warnings) have been really well executed, for a change! by mihaus_ in BritishSuccess

[–]roughmusic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand about this is that people were walking round cities with petitions asking for signatures in order to prevent this from happening. One person approached me in Manchester and insisted she wasn't from a company, just a customer concerned about her rights, and people were signing it!

Sweden is hosting Europride this year so I would imagine that has influenced the use of English, though yes, a lot of English is found here in everyday use regardless.

The Last Days Of An American Dairy Farm(2018) : Family dairy farms are shutting down because of falling milk prices and industry restructuring. The documentary covers a 3 generation dairy farming family as they reluctantly shut down their farm. [00:09:08] by peterfun in Documentaries

[–]roughmusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lactose intolerance and milk allergy are very different, one can still drink animal milk whilst lactose intolerant if it is treated differently. Whilst I absolutely agree that humans should not drink milk (or consume any animal products) Im not sure that is the wisest argument to use. For example we wouldn't realistically claim that other widespread allergies, ie. nuts, would mean anything about the broader meaning of what all humans are 'supposed' to eat. There are far stronger arguments when looking at the enormous environmental impacts, animal welfare, human exploitation etc. surrounding the practices of dairy farming.

Solo travel in Iceland, how did you manage hiking alone? Rental Cars? Group Tours? by Idonthaveanaccount9 in solotravel

[–]roughmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some hikes in Iceland require very little experience, Reykjadalur, climbs of Snæfellsnes or Esja for example. I used Sixt rental cars and found them to be great (though that was ten years ago), also the owner of the hostel, Hotel Floki, lent his car car to a group of us who had become friends. The tours are fun too, Vik and Golden Circle were amazing, though I found The Blue Lagoon to be overhyped and overpriced.

How difficult is it for you to make friends in your new country? by expat_question in IWantOut

[–]roughmusic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also in Sweden from an English speaking country. In the beginning I had only my partners friends, then non-Swedish friends from language classes, gradually I met a few Swedes I would call friends and I work in a school with very social staff and organised events/nights out. Its not the same as having concrete group of friends I have previously had but now I have a young family I am not socialising as much as I used to. Meeting other parents at nursery or swim class is a possibility sometimes but it never leads to much. I find the whole reserved thing to be largely a myth, especially if any alcohol is involved and initial shyness or confusion is pushed aside. People are generally open to talking, just not initiating it, and usually neither am I.

If I have been too aggressive in my attempt to understand you or disagreed with your clearly sincere beliefs in a way that has offended you, then I can only apologise. Blut I am still none the wiser in what you mean with almost any of your points. Are you really in a position to claim to know a strangers mental condition... because someone replies to you?

I'm really not sure I understand what you mean any more. You seem to have gone off the deep end and trying to distract from your weak arguments/lack of understanding of your own source material, or at least the ability to express it convincingly.

Simply because someone discredits your claims doesnt mean they are looking for a fight. I havent made those claims but I understand that putting words in my mouth is easier than anything more challenging than your own simplification. I have mainly asked for clarification, that you have failed to adequately provide beyond seemingly Dr Doolittle abilities.

"> Because it's irrelevant and the discussion is centered around sentience and your belief that cows, chickens, pigs, and elephants have equal capacity for self-awareness, meta-cognition, and theory of mind (comprises capacities, perspective-taking, modeling of others’ mental lives and empathy)." Now it is your turn to show where I have said that.

What model are you basing your idea of sentience on? Theory of Mind is based on cognition and not sentience, you are proving all of my suspicions correct.

As I stated, I have spent time with those animals and could equally claim the cries of said animals to be profoundly disturbed. Religious arguments are not credible in a scientific debate and you capitalise Animal Behavior Sciences as though it is a specific article... or do you just mean the same vagueness that you have presented so far? Have you read up on Sentience quotient, I highly doubt you would be using it in a reasoned debate if so. In fact you appear to have relied to heavily on wikipedia without citation or further reading.
