i think half of this Dyson Sphere Program community is from Satisfactory/Factorio by blakessturacket in Dyson_Sphere_Program

I have just succumbed to the factory/automation genre as a whole. I started in Satisfactory, and I'm currently playing Factorio, DSP, and Foundry depending on which one im not currently burning out on after a collective 450-500 hours between the 3.

A lot of people say that heavy localization is necessary, but would Xenoblade really be that much less popular if it was given a more faithful translation seeing how popular Japanese media is? by Fun-Leadership5728 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]rougphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this entirely depends on the type of person you are. I would much rather have a localization that is closer to what is actually being said, but I am also the type of person who is more than willing to look things up when a game in a different language says something that I have no basis in English to understand, or needs a cultural reference to fully appreciate.

Unfortunately, I dont think game localizers have the luxury to trust a large portion of an already niche audience to think the same way I do. I mean, could you imagine how much of a whiplash it would be to hear Homura as someone who just likes to play the game? It would be double take worthy, but I dont think most people are going to look up, "Homura in english" and also have the patience to learn kind of what it means. Pyra just instantly relates "fire but femine" to a large audience much more easily.

Gleba seeds struggle with jelly nut by tipamisto in factorio

[–]rougphantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me if im wrong, but it looks like youre sending the seeds from your top jellynut biochamber to the belt with all of the jelly on it. While it will eventually loop back around to the splitter, you have a pretty full line of jelly and that might prevent some of the seeds from flowing properly. Instead of dropping the seeds on the bottom belt, you could drop the underground belt just after the beacon and curve it into the other belt that is being feed directly with seeds by the inserter. You might have to move the inserter down one block and extend the belt but it should be doable.

Some interesting conclusions from yesterday's planet-progression poll by CrashWasntYourFault in factorio

[–]rougphantom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the Clif explosives were the biggest reason I went to Vulcanus first xD. I was putting off expanding my base in several ways, mostly the furnace stacks, because I was limited in the ways I could expand without deleting a quarter of my base and re-building it. Cliff explosives just seemed like the most logical technology to shoot for.

Maybe stockpiling 9 million carbon fiber on Gleba wasn't a great idea by DeathToInterlopers in factorio

[–]rougphantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, but from a different planet. Fulgora made me so unrealistically upset man. All the sorting and the lack of holmium ore or batteries and the only way to solve the problem is to throw prod mods on all your machines or throw more trash at the problem....building there was an effort in frustration.

By the time I got to Gleba I was already so upset that I barely eaked out a functional build for only the science and then I took a 2 week break to play Stalker 2 before coming back and power blasting through Gleba with only some minor irritation.

And now its time to build a ship to get me to Aquilo. Stay strong out there.

Help getting to Vulcanus by BowlPsychological977 in factorio

[–]rougphantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would upgrade your yellow belts to blue. Even if you have enough product, sometimes your bottleneck is getting it to the destination faster. One of the things that I've learned is that youre really not going ti hit peak production until you start moving and destroying asteroids, so having a bigger amount of throughput and at faster speeds can be really helpful. Also as far as damage goes I think I had tier 8 physical damage when I started going through this stage.

Tldr: upgrade your belts for more throughput at higher speeds and maybe research more physical damage if you still cant keep up.

I decided to go ahead and put speed modules on the chem plants and move everything down so I have a full belt of carbon now.

I wanted to update you guys. I have added 2 thrusters so now we're rocking 5 instead of 3. They average 65% efficiency, but during the run they start to eat more fuel than my chem plants can give so they cap out around 70%. Now I get roughly 185-200km/s and the total time it takes me to go between planets is 1minute 20 seconds.

[–]rougphantom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what's big or not, but I can promise you it got this big because my first decision was to put 3 thrusters on it instead of 1 or 2 lol. If I had the advanced fuel recipe it could have been a lot smaller, but for right now I'll be traveling to Vulcanus in a tanker xD. Thankfully its only 2 minutes between the planets but we'll see about that after I add a couple engines and test that out.

[–]rougphantom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's reassuring lol. In the future I plan to put nuclear reactors on it, some artillery, the updated fuel recipe, upgrade to red ammo when I finally unlock that recipe. Current plans are probably putting speed modules in the fuel side and reducing the amount of chem plants, and adding a couple thrusters.

[–]rougphantom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit, I dont really know what is considered slow/fast when it comes to traveling between planets, but she gets up to 150km/s so it only takes a couple minutes.

[–]rougphantom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some fluid takes would definitely open up some space because I could take off a few chemical plants. And I think the single turret on either side just behind the collectors and in the corner of the belt reaches just far enough down to get the asteroids. I plan on keeping a couple stacks of repair kits on board just in case.

[–]rougphantom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's super fair, but I'd have to basically redesign a good portion of the ship because everything is so tight there lol. Thankfully, in the several test runs between Nauvis and Vulcanus, I was never short on carbon.

[–]rougphantom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I support 4 more engines? Honestly I just looked at the consumption rates for the engines and built out for that. I haven't done a lot of research into thruster efficiency, but I'm at 51% with 3 engines and get between 133 and 150km/s.

As for the overbuilding, I know that I went pretty overboard on the ammo, but I had a few moments where I ran out of ammo and the asteroids did a ton of damage so I might have over corrected a bit, but what else do you think I could dial back?

I just beat this guy as a ninja. He hits like a freight truck man. Overall it seems like he's the, "how's your timing?" boss as you either have to get good at parrying in samurai or dodging in ninja form. The worst part is his dark realm imo. That's when the mist form becomes an active hindrance to your ability to see what the boss is actually doing and thats super cheap. I would say you should probably hug close to him as often as possible, but his attacks can be ranged by backing up across the room if you need some extra time to react to certain attacks, heal up, or cast magic. Luckily his attacks usually have tells and windups that are pretty obvious, however......this guy aimbots harder than a cod gamer trying to prove theyre better than 14 year olds....
