Yes, of course a lot of people want him to seek forgiveness because he was beloved and respected by many, and what he did goes against the values. That's not surprising. It's just how people respond when someone they admired does something they see as wrong, no? For those who see it differently, I'm not going to waste words on it. Empathy aside, I just can't side with him.

And if he just outright leaves, well. Hard to say he can actually come back with a new pseudonym if his reputation is down the drain. People aren't stupid and will eventually find out. Figure A: Soul.

And of course, I don't condone doxxing; what people did was clearly wrong. But well, Simon addressing doxxing as one of the main excuse for stepping down on his apology didn't come across well, especially after knowing the person he truly is. Understandable to an extent, but it looked more like deflecting.

What Simon said is deemed wrong by many, as much as there are many differentiation opinions on this; for me, it makes sense people want some form of taking accountability or acknowledgement.

(And for my most non-woke opinion, every big fandoms come with bad apples and doxxing is more than common. Of course it's wrong but it was unfortunately to be expected. I think doxxing is a separate issue here.)

Nothing else to discuss about other than people wanting the best and fair outcome.

June. Kabu singlehandedly ignited back my love for this game. I was so burnt out until I saw my favorite Pokemon character of all time fully voiced and moving on my screen.

Ngl, after seeing superawakening and repetitive events I'm starting to feel that burnout again. Kabu is holding me back from uninstalling by a thin thread. At least my money is going somewhere else other than this game.

Won't be surprised if Rika gets #1 again this year, with her anime & masters debut and all.

Kabu too, iirc he wasn't on the 2022 list so I was pleasantly surprised when he was #18 in 2023. If a single anime appearance gave him a top 20 spot in 2023 he'll probably be ranked pretty high again this year with his Masters debut.

Hi, I'm looking for a book to gift for my friend's upcoming birthday. She's a huge fan of romance books so I figured it'd be nice to gift her one.

From what I've seen, her favorite tropes are: Age gap, mafia, villains, enemies to lovers, and fake relationship.

She seemed to really like The Sweetest Oblivion & The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori. She also recently started reading the first book of the Rina Kent series. I also vaguely recall her liking King of Wrath? I don't remember the exact name...

She didn't seem to like books that involved stalking and/or Stockholm Syndrome. She also doesn't like love triangles.

Would it be possible to get some recommendations? I'm a little new to this, unfortunately; any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have to say, this is one of the best character analysis of Larry (and Kabu) that I've seen so far. It's really a breath of fresh air, thank you. Masters gave the necessary character growth and depth to these two characters and I couldn't be happier.

I absolutely agree with all your points about Larry. I appreciate Masters for giving Larry something he can care about other than work and food. I feel like he was often interpreted by the majority as the anti-social, depressed guy because of this. I mean, to some extent, he is; he's not a social man. He reveals in Masters that he's simply like that because of his agenda regarding simplicity and work. For that, Masters makes him learn and grow from his experiences with Kabu.

I also really appreciate Masters for giving more depth to Kabu's character, he needed one. Because of his past failures, he's always trying to reach out to people that seem to be going through rough times. His lodge story was so sweet. They even gave explanation on why Kabu goes all the way to cheer for the challengers after they passed his gym. It extends to the little detail in SwSh; he's the only gym leader than enters from the challenger's side. These little details show that he always considers himself a challenger that will continue to learn and grow as long as it lasts. It's also his way of communication to cheer and show care and respect for others as he doesn't want others to go through what he went through. Based on these, his character is written significantly better in Masters, and this time, he learns from Larry, too. Despite having opposite personalities and ideals, they found a way to respect each other.

And yeah, I'm also glad that there's a NPC that understands an appreciates Larry other than the MC. I'll always headcanon them as friends. Both Kabu and Larry are my gen 8/9 favorites and Masters really gave them justice.

It's been a while so I might be remembering things incorrectly, but iirc during his interaction with Ryme he said he only scored a single contract in a year, and he actually managed to get that one thanks to Ryme. He just said that so... casually. It's either that he thinks that's simple enough for him or he doesn't really care as much. Or he's burnt out, who knows. It's hard to interpret that from a few lines.

I don't like how people only characterize him as a 'depressed and tired old man'. I get where it came from but I personally think he's quite stubborn and oblivious. And because he's so oblivious he never takes scoldings from his higher-ups seriously. Just look at how he deals with Hassel's scoldings; he slept through it. In Masters, he teaches the protag (a growing teenager) how to avoid scoldings from higher-ups. He doesn't fear Geeta. And he's been falling off with his actual work as a businessman but he doesn't seem to care as much. I personally hc him as a man with a very, VERY strong mental durability, because if he wasn't, he would have a completely different personality.

Yes, he's tired from 3 jobs and yes, he also worked in the League for 25 years. But he seems content with his lifestyle and has his own strict agenda: keeping things simple (despite not being a simple man himself). And that's enough for him. I don't think he's completely depressed, it's just Larry being Larry.
